Well, we finally made it to Boston, actually to Pembroke where my sister-in-law lives. It's been cloudy, cold and rainy, except for yesterday, which was beautiful. I haven't seen this month green since I left Colorado and the road system here is as foreign as a tea party waiter at a Democratic fund raiser. I haven't felt that well, and I don't know why. I might be the change in climate or the hurried activity the last 3 weeks. Either way I like it. Now all I have to do is find a job and get back to work and I should be good to go. I really like this area, but we haven't decided what part we are going to live in, depending on Nancy's or my job. I am tired of not working and doing nothing but sending out nebulous resumes that I very rarely get responses on. Hopefully, I can find a job here in the metro area in a major station and not some small little no pay one. Though at this point I would take any job paying 15 or more. Oh well. Tomorrow starts a new day and hopefully I will get a call. That's all for now.

I can't believe it's been almost 2 years since I last posted. So many things have happened in my life and after the winning of "the one", I haven't really felt any real desire to rant about something that is all over the internet. I lost a sister due to diabetic complications (some of my family members including me, believe she overdosed on insulin on purpose, therefore one might call it a suicide)
One the hand, I got married to a very sweet woman who hails from Boston. Imagine that, me an Alabama born, Colorado raised cowboy marrying a New Englander. It's different being married after I have spent so long living by myself and taking care of my sick mom. I also got laid off from a job I loved after 10 years of working my ass for them. I have spent over a year trying to find a new job in TV operations, but the markets are so tight as so many stations are going to automation.

Throughout it all, I have been suffering debilitating anxiety/panic attacks that my doctor doesn't seem to know what causing them. Don't get me wrong, outside stresses contribute to these attacks and aggravate them, but they come on for no reason as I can't consciously figure out what is causing them. Somedays, all I can do is curl up in a ball on the couch and watch tv to try and keep my mind occupied. Oh, I know people say try breathing exercise, yoga, going out for a walk and other such things, but nothing has helped to ease them when I get them except medication. Which brings me to another point.

Most of my life I have suffered from these anxiety attacks. Sometimes they last a few days, a few weeks and lately now, the last 2 years. I have gone to see my doctor any number of times to try and find which medication works and it turns out that xanax worked the best. The problem is, I am a recovering alcoholic and for a doctor to prescribe a narcotic like that is not the smartest idea in the world. Now granted I have not drank consistently through my life. I have had periods of sobriety up to 6 years at one time, the last bout was 4 years. But last November I felt like the wheels were coming off the wagon and I was losing my mind. So I ended up drinking on Nov 25 and then didn't drink again until Dec 27. All this time I was taking xanax which is not good. I woke up the 28th of Dec and decided to quit using any drugs at all or drink. Not such a good idea. I wasn't taking a whole lot of xanax, 1 to 2 mg a day to take the edge off, but it started to become an obsession and I knew I was in trouble. So I asked my wife to take me down to a 30 day drug rehab center to get cleaned up as I didn't want to drink anymore. It wasn't so much the xanax I was afraid of, it was the drinking. And I wasn't going that road as I knew I wouldn't come back this time. Life had become so dark and hopeless that I was staring into the abyss and didn't want to be another drunk that died from alcoholism.

Anyway, this will be my last post from Phoenix as my wife and I decided to move the boston area to seek new opportunities. I've always been fascinated with the northeast and Boston in particular and it should be a new adventure. 16 years in Phoenix is a long time and I feel I've tapped out here as far as TV goes. So I bid Phoenix goodbye and work my way to Boston. And perhaps my next post will be from Boston. To all my friends here, I will miss you dearly and I will try and stay in touch, but for now, I bid Phoenix adieu and move on to new adventures.

The Health Care Bill: What HR 3200, ‘‘America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009,” Says

What does the bill, HR 3200, short-titled ‘‘America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009,” actually say about major health care issues? I here pose a few questions in no particular order, citing relevant passages and offering a brief evaluation after each set of passages.

This bill is 1017 pages long. It is knee-deep in legalese and references to other federal regulations and laws. I have only touched pieces of the bill here. For instance, I have not considered the establishment of (1) “Health Choices Commissio0ner” (Section 141); (2) a “Health Insurance Exchange,” (Section 201), basically a government run insurance scheme to coordinate all insurance activity; (3) a Public Health Insurance Option (Section 221); and similar provisions.

This is the evaluation of someone who is neither a physician nor a legal professional. I am citizen, concerned about this bill’s effects on my freedom as an American. I would rather have used my time in other ways—but this is too important to ignore.

We may answer one question up front: How will the government will pay for all this? Higher taxes, more borrowing, printing money, cutting payments, or rationing services—there are no other options. We will all pay for this, enrolled in the government “option” or not.

(All bold type within the text of the bill is added for emphasis.)

1. 1. WILL THE PLAN RATION MEDICAL CARE?

This is what the bill says, pages 284-288, SEC. 1151. REDUCING POTENTIALLY PREVENTABLE HOSPITAL READMISSIONS:

‘(ii) EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN READMISSIONS.—For purposes of clause (i), with respect to a hospital, excess readmissions shall not include readmissions for an applicable condition for which there are fewer than a minimum number (as determined by the Secretary) of discharges for such applicable condition for the applicable period and such hospital.

and, under “Definitions”:

‘‘(A) APPLICABLE CONDITION.—The term ‘applicable condition’ means, subject to subparagraph (B), a condition or procedure selected by the Secretary . . .

and:

‘‘(E) READMISSION.—The term ‘readmission’ means, in the case of an individual who is discharged from an applicable hospital, the admission of the individual to the same or another applicable hospital within a time period specified by the Secretary from the date of such discharge.

and:

‘‘(6) LIMITATIONS ON REVIEW.—There shall be no administrative or judicial review under section 1869, section 1878, or otherwise of— . . .

‘‘(C) the measures of readmissions . . .

EVALUATION OF THE PASSAGES:

1. This section amends the Social Security Act

2. The government has the power to determine what constitutes an “applicable [medical] condition.”

3. The government has the power to determine who is allowed readmission into a hospital.

4. This determination will be made by statistics: when enough people have been discharged for the same condition, an individual may be readmitted.

5. This is government rationing, pure, simple, and straight up.

6. There can be no judicial review of decisions made here. The Secretary is above the courts.

7. The plan also allows the government to prohibit hospitals from expanding without federal permission: page 317-318.

2. Will the plan punish Americans who try to opt out?

What the bill says, pages 167-168, section 401, TAX ON INDIVIDUALS WITHOUT ACCEPTABLE HEALTH CARE COVERAGE:

‘‘(a) TAX IMPOSED.—In the case of any individual who does not meet the requirements of subsection (d) at any time during the taxable year, there is hereby imposed a tax equal to 2.5 percent of the excess of—

(1) the taxpayer’s modified adjusted gross income for the taxable year, over

(2) the amount of gross income specified in section 6012(a)(1) with respect to the taxpayer. . . .”

EVALUATION OF THE PASSAGE:

1. This section amends the Internal Revenue Code.

2. Anyone caught without acceptable coverage and not in the government plan will pay a special tax.

3. The IRS will be a major enforcement mechanism for the plan.

3. what constitutes “acceptable” coverage?

Here is what the bill says, pages 26-30, SEC. 122, ESSENTIAL BENEFITS PACKAGE DEFINED:

(a) IN GENERAL.—In this division, the term ‘‘essential benefits package’’ means health benefits coverage, consistent with standards adopted under section 124 to ensure the provision of quality health care and financial security . . .

(b) MINIMUM SERVICES TO BE COVERED.—The items and services described in this subsection are the following:

(1) Hospitalization.

(2) Outpatient hospital and outpatient clinic services . . .

(3) Professional services of physicians and other health professionals.

(4) Such services, equipment, and supplies incident to the services of a physician’s or a health professional’s delivery of care . . .

(5) Prescription drugs.

(6) Rehabilitative and habilitative services.

(7) Mental health and substance use disorder services.

(8) Preventive services . . .

(9) Maternity care.

(10) Well baby and well child care . . .

(c) REQUIREMENTS RELATING TO COST-SHARING AND MINIMUM ACTUARIAL VALUE . . .

(3) MINIMUM ACTUARIAL VALUE.—

(A) IN GENERAL.—The cost-sharing under the essential benefits package shall be designed to provide a level of coverage that is designed to provide benefits that are actuarially equivalent to approximately 70 percent of the full actuarial value of the benefits provided under the reference benefits package described in subparagraph (B).

EVALUATION OF THE PASSAGES:

1. The bill defines “acceptable coverage” and leaves no room for choice in this regard.

2. By setting a minimum 70% actuarial value of benefits, the bill makes health plans in which individuals pay for routine services, but carry insurance only for catastrophic events, (such as Health Savings Accounts) illegal.

4. Will the PLAN destroy private health insurance?

Here is what it requires, for businesses with payrolls greater than $400,000 per year. (The bill uses “contribution” to refer to mandatory payments to the government plan.) Pages 149-150, SEC. 313, EMPLOYER CONTRIBUTIONS IN LIEU OF COVERAGE

(a) IN GENERAL.—A contribution is made in accordance with this section with respect to an employee if such contribution is equal to an amount equal to 8 percent of the average wages paid by the employer during the period of enrollment (determined by taking into account all employees of the employer and in such manner as the Commissioner provides, including rules providing for the appropriate aggregation of related employers). Any such contribution—

(1) shall be paid to the Health Choices Commissioner for deposit into the Health Insurance Exchange Trust Fund, and

(2) shall not be applied against the premium of the employee under the Exchange-participating health benefits plan in which the employee is enrolled.

(The bill then includes a sliding scale of payments for business with less than $400,000 in annual payroll.)

The Bill also reserves, for the government, the power to determine an acceptable benefits plan: page 24, SEC. 115. ENSURING ADEQUACY OF PROVIDER NETWORKS.

5 (a) IN GENERAL.—A qualified health benefits plan that uses a provider network for items and services shall meet such standards respecting provider networks as the Commissioner may establish to assure the adequacy of such networks in ensuring enrollee access to such items and services and transparency in the cost-sharing differentials between in-network coverage and out-of-network coverage.

EVALUATION OF THE PASSAGES:

1. The bill does not prohibit a person from buying private insurance.

2. Small businesses—with say 8-10 employees—will either have to provide insurance to federal standards, or pay an 8% payroll tax. Business costs for health care are higher than this, especially considering administrative costs. Any competitive business that tries to stay with a private plan will face a payroll disadvantage against competitors who go with the government “option.”

3. The pressure for business owners to terminate the private plans will be enormous.

4. With employers ending plans, millions of Americans will lose their private coverage, and fewer companies will offer it.

5. The Commissioner (meaning, always, the bureaucrats) will determine whether a particular network of physicians, hospitals and insurance is acceptable.

6. With private insurance starved, many people enrolled in the government “option” will have no place else to go.

5. Does the plan TAX successful Americans more THAN OTHERS?

Here is what the bill says, pages 197-198, SEC. 441. SURCHARGE ON HIGH INCOME INDIVIDUALS

‘‘SEC. 59C. SURCHARGE ON HIGH INCOME INDIVIDUALS.

‘‘(a) GENERAL RULE.—In the case of a taxpayer other than a corporation, there is hereby imposed (in addition to any other tax imposed by this subtitle) a tax equal to—

‘‘(1) 1 percent of so much of the modified adjusted gross income of the taxpayer as exceeds $350,000 but does not exceed $500,000,

‘‘(2) 1.5 percent of so much of the modified adjusted gross income of the taxpayer as exceeds $500,000 but does not exceed $1,000,000, and

‘‘(3) 5.4 percent of so much of the modified adjusted gross income of the taxpayer as exceeds $1,000,000.

EVALUATION OF THE PASSAGE:

1. This bill amends the Internal Revenue Code.

2. Tax surcharges are levied on those with the highest incomes.

3. The plan manipulates the tax code to redistribute their wealth.

4. Successful business owners will bear the highest cost of this plan.

6. Does THE PLAN ALLOW THE GOVERNMENT TO set FEES FOR SERVICES?

What it says, page 124, Sec. 223, PAYMENT RATES FOR ITEMS AND SERVICES:

(d) CONSTRUCTION.—Nothing in this subtitle shall be construed as limiting the Secretary’s authority to correct for payments that are excessive or deficient, taking into account the provisions of section 221(a) and the amounts paid for similar health care providers and services under other Exchange-participating health benefits plans.

(e) CONSTRUCTION.—Nothing in this subtitle shall be construed as affecting the authority of the Secretary to establish payment rates, including payments to provide for the more efficient delivery of services, such as the initiatives provided for under section 224.

EVALUATION OF THE PASSAGES:

The government’s authority to set payments is basically unlimited.
The official will decide what constitutes “excessive,” “deficient,” and “efficient” payments and services.

7. Will THE PLAN increase the power of government officials to SCRUTINIZE our private affairs?

What it says, pages 195-196, SEC. 431. DISCLOSURES TO CARRY OUT HEALTH INSURANCE EXCHANGE SUBSIDIES.

‘‘(A) IN GENERAL.—The Secretary, upon written request from the Health Choices Commissioner or the head of a State-based health insurance exchange approved for operation under section 208 of the America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009, shall disclose to officers and employees of the Health Choices Administration or such State-based health insurance exchange, as the case may be, return information of any taxpayer whose income is relevant in determining any affordability credit described in subtitle C of title II of the America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009. Such return information shall be limited to—

‘‘(i) taxpayer identity information with respect to such taxpayer,

‘‘(ii) the filing status of such taxpayer,

‘‘(iii) the modified adjusted gross income of such taxpayer (as defined in section 59B(e)(5)),

‘‘(iv) the number of dependents of the taxpayer,

‘‘(v) such other information as is prescribed by the Secretary by regulation as might indicate whether the taxpayer is eligible for such affordability credits (and the amount thereof), and

‘‘(vi) the taxable year with respect to which the preceding information relates or, if applicable, the fact that such information is not available.

And, page 145, section 312, EMPLOYER RESPONSIBILITY TO CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS EMPLOYEE AND DEPENDENT COVERAGE:

(3) PROVISION OF INFORMATION.—The employer provides the Health Choices Commissioner, the Secretary of Labor, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, and the Secretary of the Treasury, as applicable, with such information as the Commissioner may require to ascertain compliance with the requirements of this section.

EVALUATION OF THE PASSAGE:

1. This section amends the Internal Revenue Code

2. The bill opens up income tax return information to federal officials.

3. Any stated “limits” to such information are circumvented by item (v), which allows federal officials to decide what information is needed.

4. Employers are required to report whatever information the government says it needs to enforce the plan.

8. 8. Does the plan automatically enroll Americans in the GOVERNMENT plan?

What it says, page 102, Section 205, Outreach and enrollment of Exchange-eligible individuals and employers in Exchange-participating health benefits plan:

(3) AUTOMATIC ENROLLMENT OF MEDICAID ELIGIBLE INDIVIDUALS INTO MEDICAID.—The Commissioner shall provide for a process under which an individual who is described in section 202(d)(3) and has not elected to enroll in an Exchange-participating health benefits plan is automatically enrolled under Medicaid.

And, page 145, section 312:

(4) AUTOENROLLMENT OF EMPLOYEES.—The employer provides for autoenrollment of the employee in accordance with subsection (c).

EVALUATION OF THE PASSAGES:

1. Do nothing and you are in.

2. Employers are responsible for automatically enrolling people who still work.

9. 9. Does THE PLAN exempt federal OFFICIALS from COURT REVIEW?

What it says, page 124, Section 223, PAYMENT RATES FOR ITEMS AND SERVICES:

(f) LIMITATIONS ON REVIEW.—There shall be no administrative or judicial review of a payment rate or methodology established under this section or under section 224.

And, page 256, SEC. 1123. PAYMENTS FOR EFFICIENT AREAS.

‘‘(C) LIMITATION ON REVIEW.—There shall be no administrative or judicial review under section 1869, 1878, or otherwise, respecting—

‘‘(i) the identification of a county or other area under subparagraph (A); or

‘‘(ii) the assignment of a postal ZIP Code to a county or other area under subparagraph (B).

EVALUATION OF THE PASSAGES:

1. Sec. 1123 amends the Social Security Act, to allow the Secretary to identify areas of the country that underutilize the government’s plan “based on per capita spending.”

2. Parts of the plan are set above the review of the courts.

MUMBAI, India — U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton opened a three-day visit to India on Saturday by urging India not to repeat American mistakes in contributing to global pollution, and she passionately defended U.S. demands for help in fighting terrorism.

"We acknowledge now with President Obama that we have made mistakes in the United States, and we along with other developed countries have contributed most significantly to the problem that we face with climate change," she said. "We are hoping a great country like India will not make the same mistakes."

She was referring to Obama's statement in Italy earlier this month that the U.S. had "sometimes fallen short" of its responsibilities in controlling its carbon emissions.

Speaking at a news conference on the pool side patio of the Taj Mahal Palace & Hotel, which was strewn with bodies after terrorists attacked this coastal city last November, she cast India and the United States as allies in the fight against terrorism.

"Yesterday's bombings in Jakarta, Indonesia, provide a painful reminder that the threat of such violent extremism is still very real. It is global. It is ruthless. It is nihilistic and it must be stopped," she said.

"We have a great sense of solidarity and sympathy, having gone through what we did on 9/11," she added.

Her voice rising, Clinton insisted that the U.S. demand for international action against terrorist should not be taken lightly.

"We know how important (it is). We are fighting wars to end the threat of terrorism against us, our friends and allies around the world." She said India can choose its own way of contributing but must be part of a broader effort to defeat the threat.

"We expect everyone" who shares the U.S. goal of a more stable world "to take strong action to prevent terrorism from taking root on their soil and making sure that terrorists are not trained and deployed" from their territory to carry out attacks elsewhere, she added.

Earlier, Clinton attended a ceremony commemorating the Mumbai attack, which killed 166 and raised tensions between nuclear rivals India and Pakistan. At the event were five staffers from the Oberoi Hotel and 10 from the Taj, including general manager Karambir Kang, who lost his wife and two children during the three-day siege.

The event was closed to reporters.

In a memorial book she wrote: "Americans share a solidarity with this city and nation. Both our people have experienced the senseless and searing effects of violent extremism. And both can be grateful and proud of the heroism of brave men and women whose courage saved lives and prevented greater harm on 26/11 and 9/11. Now it is up to all nations and people who seek peace and progress to work together. Let us rid the world of hatred and extremism that produces such nihilistic violence."

She also met with 11 Indian business leaders, including Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries, the largest privately held company in India.

Echoing remarks made by Ambani at the meeting, Clinton said that India should leapfrog the developed world to come up with its own innovative way to encourage environmentally friendly growth.

"Just as India went from a few years ago having very few mobile phones to now having more than 500 million mostly cell phones by leapfrogging over the infrastructure we built for telephone service, we believe India is innovative and entrepreneurial enough to figure out how to deal with climate change while continuing to lift people out of poverty and develop at a rapid rate," she said.

Seeking to assuage Indian concerns that the U.S. pressured India into making concessions to Pakistan despite that nation's failure to bring to justice the perpetrators of the Mumbai attack, Clinton emphasized that the U.S. respects India's sovereign right to make its own decisions.

"Discussion between India and Pakistan is between India and Pakistan," she said.

The visit marked a return to the world stage for Clinton, who has been slowed since mid-June by an arm injury that forced her to cancel plans to attend international meetings in Italy and Greece last month and to accompany President Barack Obama on his visit to Russia earlier this month.

Clinton is scheduled to hold talks Sunday and Monday in New Delhi with Indian government officials on a wide range of issues, including nuclear nonproliferation, strengthening trade ties and combatting climate change. She is to attend talks in Thailand later in the week with representatives of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

A very moving tribute to a fallen soldier

I got this from Shari, my good good friend. She sent me the link. I found this to be very touching and watched the whole thing with tears in my eyes just seeing all the people who came out to honor this hero. Watch the whole thing and it will move you too. This is one thing you will never see from the left, honoring a fallen soldier.

John C. Beale, age 39, husband, father, and member of the Georgia National Guard was killed in Afghanistan on June 4th, 2009. He was a Staff Sergeant with the 1st Battalion, 108th Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Target Acquisition Squadron, 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. He is survived by his wife and by a 12-year-old son and an 8-year-old daughter.

His friends and neighbors in Georgia turned out to honor him when he returned. His coffin arrived at the airport in Peachtree City, Georgia on Thursday, June 11 and was taken by motorcade to a funeral home in his hometown of McDonough. Word had traveled rapidly through the Georgia communities and they turned out in large numbers to line the route of the motorcade to honor a fallen soldier.

Traveling in the motorcade was state Rep. Steve Davis, who put together this video of the crowds that lined the route. There is something very significant in seeing the outpouring of support and respect here.

The passing of a liberal Icon

It was sad to hear that Walter Cronkite died yesterday. I remember him from my childhood and my early days in TV. While professing to be "politically neutral", it was only obvious that Cronkite was a decided liberal, as most so-called journalists are. I remember being a kid when he was on the air as Apollo 11 landed and him covering the Vietnam war. After the Tet offensive, he said the best we could hope for "is a negotiated and honorable peace." Just as any true liberal does, he got scared at the prospect that the NVA were actually attacking Saigon, although, even General Giap said later, the Tet offensive was a failure. His reporting was always skewed toward the left (as usual) and if anything, he mis-led the viewing American public that the US had somehow lost the war, which we lost in part due to his reporting. We did not lose militarily, though war is always a means to an end. The North Vietnamese said that if Nixon had kept bombing Hanoi in Linebacker 2, they would have probably sued for peace as their country was being hammered.

I am sure people are remembering Cronkite fondly, probably because he was on the air for so long, his coverage of the assasination of JFK, the moon landing, Vietnam and Watergate, but for me, as I got older and wiser and started really learning about "TV news", I realized how skewered left it was and still is. Back then we had 3 networks, so opposing viewpoints were hard to come by and people always think if it's on the news, it must be true. It's only after the rise of Limbaugh, Hannity, Fox News and other such "right wing" sources, do we see that the MSM is left-biased and always has been. And any reporter that says he is objective must be viewed with suspicion as you can never leave your bias totally out of the story. All reporters are subjective since they are interpreting the news through their eyes. Cronkite set an example for generations to come as far as "TV Journalism" is concerned, with many people modeling their style on his. But Cronkite didn't have a competing news organization to balance his "storytelling". There was no Fox news and most of the stories CBS or any network news org did at that time, and still do, come from what they read in the NY Times or the Washington post. It was the Washington post that broke open Watergate, Cronkite just followed the lead. What would have happened with the Vietnam war if there was a "fair and balanced" network offering a different viewpoint. Again, we didn't lose the war militarily, we lost politically. And what people forgot is that it was a democrat that got us into that war, was a democrat that kept us in that war and it took a republican to get us out.

Still many people remember him fondly and I do to an extent. But I think it should be noted that "Uncle Walter" was not the objective reporter he appeared to be. All one has to do is go back and really look at his work.

One of my favorite shows on TV right now is "American Dad". The mis-adventures of CIA agent Stan Smith and his weird family. The show is obviously skewed left, but it's funny anyway. This clip is funny because of what Steve says. This show was about how Stan was trying to teach Steve about sex and told him that in order to not think "impure thoughts" (i.e., masturbate), Steve should develop a hobby. Well, one of Stan's hobbies is wood burning and when Stan got Steve to try and do a wood burning, well, Steve missed the wood that was laying in Stan's lap and Stan ended up getting his willy burned. The episode is about how Stan gets ointment to heal the burn and ends up becoming a serial masturbator himself. This scene is of Stan getting his ointment in the bathroom when Steve walks in.

OBAMA'S POLL NUMBERS DROP

President Obama has crossed the red line in his dropping approval rating.

The percentage of Americans who strongly or somewhat approve of how he is doing his job has fallen to 51 percent in the latest Rasmussen polling -- the lowest ever. Because Obama got 52 percent of the vote in the presidential race, defeating McCain by 52-47, the fact that his approval has dropped below his vote share indicates that he is actually shedding real support for the first time.

Until this drop, all Obama was doing was losing McCain voters. Now he is losing his own. It didn't really matter whether people who voted for McCain approved of the job Obama was doing. They were never part of his base. But now voters who pulled the lever for Obama have started to tell pollsters that they disapprove of his job performance. As he wades deeper into the healthcare reform battle, raises taxes to pay for it and pushes cap-and-trade legislation, the drop is likely to be even sharper and much, much steeper.

The Republicans bring a knife to a gunfight, and lose again.

One of the most terrifying moments of my political life came last summer at the Republican convention in St. Paul. No, I don’t mean seeing John McCain careering around the Xcel Energy Center like Eyegore in Young Frankenstein, his face frozen in a Lon Chaney Sr. rictus grin as he reached across the aisle to his erstwhile friends in the media and got his hand bitten off. Rather, I’m referring to the aftermath of Sarah Palin’s outrageous acceptance speech, which whipped up the Rotary Club delegates into a frenzy of white-boy fury that not even heckling by a brave Code Pink embed could deter. Truly a fascist classic and one that sent shivers down our collectivist spines.

Even worse was the glaze of horror on the phizzes of the assembled heroes of the Mainstream Media. Andrea Mitchell — yes, the very same Andrea Mitchell, NBC News, Washington, whose employer saw no conflict of interest at all when she married then Fed pooh-bah Alan Greenspan — stood there gaping like a frog while the rest of the assembled Finemans and Matthewses and Olbermanns scurried around like roaches when the light gets turned on: What the hell just hit us? For one horrible moment, it looked as if the carefully crafted plans of David Axelrod, Rahm Emanuel, George Soros, and the Second Chief Directorate, first department, of the old KGB were about to gang agley.

Not only were we offended at the sheer effrontery of McCain’s pick: How dare the Republicans proffer this déclassée piece of Wasilla trailer trash whose only claim to fame was that she didn’t exercise her right to choose? Where were her degrees from Smith or Barnard, her internships at PETA, the Brookings Institution, or the Young Pioneers? We were also outraged that the Stupid Party had just nominated a completely unqualified candidate nobody had ever heard of, a first-term governor of Alaska whose previous experience consisted of a small-town mayoralty. As opposed to our guy, Barry Soetoro of Mombasa, Djakarta, and Honolulu, a first-term senator nobody had ever heard of, whose previous experience had been as a state senator (D., Daley Machine) in Illinois. After eight long, illegitimate, lawless years of &*^%BUSH$#@! tyranny, how dare you contest this election?

And so the word went out, from that time and place: Eviscerate Sarah Palin like one of her field-dressed moose. Turn her life upside down. Attack her politics, her background, her educational history. Attack her family. Make fun of her husband, her children. Unleash the noted gynecologist Andrew Sullivan to prove that Palin’s fifth child was really her grandchild. Hit her with everything we have: Maureen Dowd of the New York Times, taking a beer-run break from her quixotic search for Mr. Right to drip venom on Sister Sarah; post-funny comic David Letterman, to joke about her and her daughters on national television; Katie Couric, the anchor nobody watches, to give this Alaskan interloper a taste of life in the big leagues; former New York Times hack Todd “Mr. Dee Dee Myers” Purdum, to act as an instrument of Graydon Carter’s wrath at Vanity Fair. Heck, we even burned her church down. Even after the teleological triumph of The One, the assault had to continue, each blow delivered with our Lefty Sneer^TM (viz.: Donny Deutsch yesterday on Morning Joe), until Sarah was finished.

You know what? It worked! McCain finally succumbed to his long-standing case of Stockholm Syndrome (“My friends, you have nothing to fear from an Obama presidency”), Tina Fey turned Palin into a see-Russia-from-my-house joke, “conservative” useful idiots like Peggy Noonan and Kathleen Parker hatched her, and finally Sarah cried No más and walked away. If we could, we’d cut off her head and mount it on a wall at Tammany Hall, except there is no more Tammany Hall unless you count Obama’s Tony Rezko–financed home in Chicago. And it took only eight months — heck, Sarah couldn't even have another kid in the time it took us to destroy her. That’s the Chicago way!

Yes, my friends, it’s once again time to quote Sean Connery’s famous speech from The Untouchables, written by David Mamet — the lecture the veteran Chicago cop gives a wet-behind-the-ears Eliot Ness (Kevin Costner, back when he was a movie star) while they sit in a church pew. “You want to get Capone? Here’s how you get him: he pulls a knife, you pull a gun, he sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That’s the Chicago way!” If you just think of us — liberal Democrats — as Capone you’ll begin to understand what we’re up to. And we just put one of yours in the morgue.

I don’t know why I’m telling you this, but maybe now you’re beginning to understand the high-stakes game we’re playing here. This ain’t John McCain’s logrolling senatorial club any more. This is a deadly serious attempt to realize the vision of the 1960s and to fundamentally transform the United States of America. This is the fusion of Communist dogma, high ideals, gangster tactics, and a stunning amount of self-loathing. For the first time in history, the patrician class is deliberately selling its own country down the river just to prove a point: that, yes, we can! This country stinks and we won’t be happy until we’ve forced you to admit it.

In other words, stop thinking of the Democratic Party as merely a political party, because it’s much more than that. We’re not just the party of slavery, segregation, secularism, and sedition. Not just the party of Aaron Burr, Boss Tweed, Richard J. Croker, Bull Connor, Chris Dodd, Richard Daley, Bill Ayers, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, and Emperor Barack Hussein Obama II. Not just the party of Kendall “Agent 202” Myers, the State Department official recruited as a Cuban spy along with his wife during the Carter administration. Rather, think of the Democratic Party as what it really is: a criminal organization masquerading as a political party.

If you had any sense, you would start using our tactics against us. After all, you have a few lawyers on your side. Sue us. File frivolous ethics complaints against all our elected officials until, like Sarah, they go broke from defending themselves. (David Paterson would be a good place to start.) Challenge the constitutionality of BO²’s legion of fill-in-the-blank czars — none of whom have to be confirmed, or even pass a security check. (Come to think of it, neither did Barry.) Let slip your own journalistic dogs of war, assuming you have any, to find Barry’s birth certificate, his college transcripts, whether he applied to Occidental as a foreign student, and on which passport he traveled in 1981 to Pakistan with his friend Wahid Hamid, for starters.

You might also want to think about interviewing New York literary agent Jane Dystel, who a) contacted the totally unknown Obama in the wake of an adulatory New York Times piece in 1990 and b) got him a $125,000 advance for a memoir that c) he couldn’t write, even after a long sojourn in Bali, which d) got the contract canceled, whereupon e) Dystel got him $40,000 from another publisher, following which f) the book finally came out to glowing reviews and g) Obama fired her. Wouldn’t she have an interesting story to tell?

Of course, you won’t. You’re too nice, too enamored of history and tradition to realize that the rules have changed. Remember, I live and work in a town where, “Hello, he lied,” isn’t a joke; we men of the Left are perfectly comfortable lying, cheating, and stealing — hello, Senator Franken! — in order to attain and keep political power. Not for nothing is one of our mottos, “By Any Means Necessary.” You see, we’re the good guys, and for us the ends always justify the means. We are, literally, shameless, which is why Bill Clinton is now a multi-millionaire and Eliot Spitzer is already on the comeback trail.

In Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals, “the fourth rule is: Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules.” This is the book that “Reset” Rodham (what ever happened to her?) and BHO II grew up reading and continue to live by. If you don’t understand that that’s the way we see you — as the enemy — then you’re too dumb to survive. Remember that for us politics is not just an avocation, or even just a job, but our life. We literally stay awake nights thinking up ways to screw you. And one of the ways we do that is by religiously observing Alinsky’s Rule No. 4.

Did Sarah stand for “family values”? Flay her unwed-mother daughter. Did she represent probity in a notoriously corrupt, one-family state? Spread rumors about FBI investigations. Did she speak with an upper-Midwest twang? Mock it relentlessly on Saturday Night Live. Above all, don’t let her motivate the half of the country that doesn’t want His Serene Highness to bankrupt the nation, align with banana-republic Communist dictators, unilaterally dismantle our missile defenses, and set foot in more mosques than churches since he has become president. We’ve got a suicide cult to run here.

And that’s why Sarah had to go. Whether she understood it or not, she threatened us right down to our most fundamental, meretricious, elitist, sneering, snobbish, insecure, Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders bones. She was, after all, a “normal” American, the kind of person (or so I’m told) you meet in flyover country. The kind that worries first about home and hearth and believes in things like motherhood and love of country the way it is, not the way she wants to remake it.

What you clowns need, in other words, is a Rules for Radical Conservatives to explain what you’re up against and teach you how to compete before it’s too late. Luckily, since I care about money even more than I care about politics, I have just such a book in the proposal stage, currently making the rounds of various publishers, assuming any of them are wise enough to take me up on it.

And, yes, this time it really is personal.

I think the vast differences in compensation between victims of the September 11 casualty and those who die serving our country in Uniform are profound. No one is really talking about it either, because you just don't criticize anything having to do with September 11.

Well, I can't let the numbers pass by because it says something really disturbing about the entitlement mentality of this country. If you lost a family member in the September 11 attack, you're going to get an average of $1,185,000. The range is a minimum guarantee of $250,000, all the way up to $4.7 million. ?If you are a surviving family member of an American soldier killed in action, the first check you get is a $6,000 direct death benefit, half of which is taxable.Next, you get $1,750 for burial costs. If you are the surviving spouse, you get $833 a month until you remarry. And there's a payment of $211 per month for each child under 18. When the child hits 18, those payments come to a screeching halt.

Keep in mind that some of the people who are getting an average of $1.185 million up to $4.7 million are complaining that it's not enough. Their deaths were tragic, but for most, they were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Soldiers put themselves in harms way FOR ALL OF US, and they and their families know the dangers. (Actually, soldiers are put in harms way by politicians and commanding officers.)We also learned over the weekend that some of the victims from the Oklahoma Citybombing have started an organization asking for the same deal that the September 11 families are getting. In addition to that, some of the families of those bombed in the embassies are now asking for compensation as well.

You see where this is going, don't you? Folks, this is part and parcel of over 50 years of entitlement politics in this country. It's just really sad. Every time a pay raise comes up for the military, they usually receive next to nothing of a raise.

Now the green machine is in combat in the Middle East while their families have to survive on food stamps and live in low-rent housing. Make sense?However, our own US Congress voted themselves a raise.

Many of you don't know that they only have to be in Congress one time to receive a pension that is more than $15,000 per month. And most are now equal to being millionaires plus. They do not receive Social Security on retirement because they didn't have to pay into the system.. If some of the military people stay in for 20 years and get out as an E-7, they may receive a pension of $1,000 per month, and the very people who placed them in harm's way receives a pension of $15,000 per month.I would like to see our elected officials pick up a weapon and join ranks before they start cutting out benefits and lowering pay for our sons and daughters who are now fighting. "When do we finally do something about this?" If this doesn't seem fair to you, it is time to forward this to as many people as you can. To how many people CAN YOU send this ?

I got this from my daughter Sara. It's a letter she sent and I think it's a great idea.

Letter from the Boss,

As the CEO of this business that employs 140 people, I have accepted the fact that Barack Obama is our new President, and that our taxes and government fees will now increase in a BIG way.

To compensate for this additional overhead, I figure that the clients will have to see an increase in our fees of about 8% but since we cannot raise those prices right now due to the dismal state of our economy, we will have to lay off several of our employees instead. This unfortunate economic reality has really been eating at me for a while, as we believe we are family here and I didn't know how to choose who will have to go.

After giving it considerable thought, this is what I did: I strolled thru our parking lot and found 11 Obama bumper stickers on our employees' cars and have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off. I can't think of a more fair way to approach this problem. They wanted change; I gave it to them.

Chris Dodd is a liar, if not outright, by omission

So, he finally is cornered like the rat he is. Who is responsible for this fiasco? well, first look to the banking committee chaired by none other than Chris Dodd and his crony, Barney Frank. Much of the problem with the "recession" they would like to pin on Bush comes from their incompetence with handling Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which needed overhaul years ago. You have to remember, both are primarily controlled by the democrats. Republicans have been warning for years that both needed to be overhauled. Instead, the democrats said, "it's fine, nothing to see here".

Now amidst the AIG "scandal", it's finally revealed (and I already knew this) that none other than Chris Dodd had written a loophole in the legislation. Yet these are the people who are just beside themselves because of the "bonuses" that AIG is supposed to pay out. Watch this clip and just see how dishonest and a liar Chris Dodd is and has no business in government. These are the kind of people that we should not allow to be the dogcatcher!

Leno's Oral fixation with President Bush

I don't know what his problem is, but Jay Leno can't seem to leave President Bush or former President Bush alone. This is the guy that had nothing but good things to say after the atrocities of 9/11, yet as the years passed, he just kept slamming Bush for everything. Leno is a liberal, even though he says he's a political moderate. He's not. He glances at the surface of everything and while Bush did some great things in his presidency, Leno always tries to make him sound dumb. Meanwhile, the real idiot, Comrade Obam-uh is to appear Thursday on "The Tonight Show" and Leno is salivating as if that idiot has any real clue as to the damage he has thus far inflicted on this nation. I really believe that Leno is a nice guy, personally I like him over Dave Letterman, but he's a political ignoramus. In this clip, Leno talks about this stupid study that says our brains peak at around 27 years of age. That is ridiculous, what about all the great people over 30 that have created or invented? 27 years old is just an older teenager from where I stand. I remember being 27 and the world is still pretty fresh at that age. As I have gotten older, I have noticed that I have matured in ways that I couldn't have envisioned when I was 27. Seems Mr Civil Rights and 60's icon Bob Dylan, he who can't even remember the words to his own music and I don't think has been seen on stage in a coon's age, has an outhouse on his Malibu property (I don't think it's Barbara Streisand visiting I believe), that is wafting it's stench onto his neighbors. Think about this. This is a guy who decried the injustice and evil of the government's treatment of black people and the Vietnam war. Yet this piece from the LA times blog lays out what kind of environmentalist this pinhead is. This is typical liberal behavior. Do as I say, not as I do. I wonder if Sheryl 2-ply Crowe visits? Neighbors contend that there’s definitely something bad blowing in the wind near Bob Dylan’s Malibu mansion.
Residents contend that the evening breeze wafts a terrible stench from an employees' portable toilet on Dylan's Point Dume property.
Right into their homes. And their nostrils.
Some neighbors say they are even getting sick. Dylan, 67, has ignored their complaints for six months.

David Emminger, whose home is directly behind the toilet, told the L.A. Times that the latrine is used by Dylan’s security staff.
Emminger and his wife have installed five industrial-sized fans in their yard to blast the smell back at Dylan.
But mere fans can't compete with the powerful evening ocean breezes.
Dylan, who has lived in a compound next to Bluewater Road for more than two decades, did not respond to inquiries about the toilet.
Neither did his New York lawyer.
Malibu officials said they are investigating the complaints and, as a result, they cannot discuss the issue.

Read this story. I read this and think that every vet is owed, yes owed the benefits that our government can provide. After all, many of them were injured in the service of our country, it wasn't worker's comp that they are being offered. WASHINGTON, March 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The leader of the nation's largest veterans organization says he is "deeply disappointed and concerned" after a meeting with President Obama today to discuss a proposal to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries. The Obama administration recently revealed a plan to require private insurance carriers to reimburse the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in such cases.

"It became apparent during our discussion today that the President intends to move forward with this unreasonable plan," said Commander David K. Rehbein of The American Legion. "He says he is looking to generate $540-million by this method, but refused to hear arguments about the moral and government-avowed obligations that would be compromised by it."

The Commander, clearly angered as he emerged from the session said, "This reimbursement plan would be inconsistent with the mandate ' to care for him who shall have borne the battle' given that the United States government sent members of the armed forces into harm's way, and not private insurance companies. I say again that The American Legion does not and will not support any plan that seeks to bill a veteran for treatment of a service connected disability at the very agency that was created to treat the unique need of America's veterans!"

Commander Rehbein was among a group of senior officials from veterans service organizations joining the President, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel, Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki and Steven Kosiak, the overseer of defense spending at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). The group's early afternoon conversation at The White House was precipitated by a letter of protest presented to the President earlier this month. The letter, co-signed by Commander Rehbein and the heads of ten colleague organizations, read, in part, " There is simply no logical explanation for billing a veteran's personal insurance for care that the VA has a responsibility to provide. While we understand the fiscal difficulties this country faces right now, placing the burden of those fiscal problems on the men and women who have already sacrificed a great deal for this country is unconscionable."

Commander Rehbein reiterated points made last week in testimony to both House and Senate Veterans' Affairs Committees. It was stated then that The American Legion believes that the reimbursement plan would be inconsistent with the mandate that VA treat service-connected injuries and disabilities given that the United States government sends members of the armed forces into harm's way, and not private insurance companies. The proposed requirement for these companies to reimburse the VA would not only be unfair, says the Legion, but would have an adverse impact on service-connected disabled veterans and their families. The Legion argues that, depending on the severity of the medical conditions involved, maximum insurance coverage limits could be reached through treatment of the veteran's condition alone. That would leave the rest of the family without health care benefits. The Legion also points out that many health insurance companies require deductibles to be paid before any benefits are covered.

Additionally, the Legion is concerned that private insurance premiums would be elevated to cover service-connected disabled veterans and their families, especially if the veterans are self-employed or employed in small businesses unable to negotiate more favorable across-the-board insurance policy pricing. The American Legion also believes that some employers, especially small businesses, would be reluctant to hire veterans with service-connected disabilities due to the negative impact their employment might have on obtaining and financing company health care benefits.

"I got the distinct impression that the only hope of this plan not being enacted," said Commander Rehbein, "is for an alternative plan to be developed that would generate the desired $540-million in revenue. The American Legion has long advocated for Medicare reimbursement to VA for the treatment of veterans. This, we believe, would more easily meet the President's financial goal. We will present that idea in an anticipated conference call with White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel in the near future.

"I only hope the administration will really listen to us then. This matter has far more serious ramifications than the President is imagining," concluded the Commander.

Obama mulls making vets foot bill for service injuries

WASHINGTON - WASHINGTON—The Obama administration is considering making veterans use private insurance to pay for treatment of combat and service-related injuries. The plan would be an about-face on what veterans believe is a long-standing pledge to pay for health care costs that result from their military service.
But in a White House meeting Monday, veterans groups apparently failed to persuade President Obama to take the plan off the table.

“Veterans of all generations agree that this proposal is bad for the country and bad for veterans,” said Paul Rieckhoff, executive director of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. “If the president and the OMB [Office of Management and Budget] want to cut costs, they can start at AIG, not the VA.”

Under current policy, veterans are responsible for health care costs that are unrelated to their military service. Exceptions in some cases can be made for veterans who do not have private insurance or are 100 percent disabled.

The president spoke Monday at the Department of Veterans Affairs to commemorate its 20th anniversary and said he hopes to increase funding by $25 billion over the next five years. But he said nothing about the plan to bill private insurers for service-related medical care.
Few details about the plan have been available, and a VA spokesman did not provide additional information. But the reaction on Capitol Hill to the idea has been swift and harsh.

“Dead on arrival” is how Democratic Sen. Patty Murray of Washington described the idea.
“ . . . when our troops are injured while serving our country, we should take care of those injuries completely,” Murray, a member of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, told a hearing last week.

Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki said at the same hearing that the plan was “a consideration.” He also acknowledged that the VA’s proposed budget for next year included it as a way to increase revenue. But he told the committee that “a final decision hasn’t been made yet.”

For veterans, that was little comfort.

Veterans claim that the costs of treating expensive war injuries could raise their insurance costs, as well as those for their employers. Some worried that it also could make it more difficult for disabled veterans to find work.

The leaders of several veterans groups had written Obama last month complaining about the new plan. “There is simply no logical explanation for billing a veteran’s personal insurance for care that the VA has a responsibility to provide,” they wrote.

Many veterans had high expectations for Obama after years of battling the Bush administration over benefit cuts and medical concerns such as post-traumatic stress disorder.
But the VA’s decision to float a potential change in its policy of paying for service-related injuries could signal a quick end to the honeymoon.

“It’s a betrayal,” said Joe Violante, legislative director of Disabled American Veterans, which signed the letter to Obama. “My insurance company didn’t send me to Vietnam, my government did. The same holds true for men and women now fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. It’s the government’s responsibility.”

Meanwhile, a new poll by the independent Pew Research Center for the People & the Press has found Obama’s approval rating falling to 59 percent from 64 percent in February. It also found the ranks of Americans who disapprove of his job performance rising, to 26 percent from 17 percent.

Pew found that 44 percent think that the president listens more to liberals than to moderates in his party, while 30 percent think he listens more to moderates. In January, 44 percent thought he listened more to moderates and 34 percent more to liberals.

I met up with some friends and we sat down to eat and my friends son had a child's cup with various vegetables on it. My friend Craig, said, "what do you notice about the pickle?" If there is anyone in the world that knows socialism/communism, it's someone from one of the former Soviet bloc countries. Probably the most knowledgeable of these would be Poland. If you study the history of Poland, you will find that as a country it has been one of the most, if not the most abused country in history, from Napoleon to Hitler to Stalin, the wonderful people of Poland have endured some of the most vicious and savage treatments at the hands of evil men. Now that she is free, one finds that Poles are the most ardent proponents of freedom in the world and will fight to remain free.

My good friend Shari, over at Keep in touch with Mama Kin sent me this email from a Polish immigrant. What you read is a good indication of how far left the commucrat party has gone. I probably err when I claim liberals have taken over the commucrat party, I probably mean more the leftist/socialists have done so. I think a true liberal would not try and silence any voice of the opposition from the conservative right, as we have that freedom in this country, for now at least. I think more the left would love to silence those of us who vehemently disagree with Comrade Obam-uh and his ilk who are trying to hijack our American life. It's suppose to be funny, ha ha. All they're doing is poking fun at Michael Steele, ha ha. SNL does parodies of politicians all the time, so it's no big deal.

Now, I am one that feels that the "racism" card gets thrown around way too much. It has become the catch-all buzz word to shut somebody down when you can't argue the facts with them. But in this case, it is racism. The weekend update skit with Seth Thomas and Keenan Thompson portraying Michael Steele, is nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt at racism. Turn it around, had Thompson, whom I find is not very talented to begin with, portrayed a democrat, can you hear the howls from the commucrats and their mouthpieces in the media? After all, the MSM is nothing more than an extension of the democratic party anymore and ceased having any credibilty as being "objective" sometime around the Reagan era. It got bad with Clinton and it's even worse with the messiah since they worship the ground he walks on or should I say, the water.

In this skit, Thompson and Meyers, attempt to make Steele out as a minion of Rush Limbaugh and a wooden dummy who just spouts whatever Rush and the Republican party says. It makes Steele look like an "Uncle Tom" that will utter whatever the hand in his back tells him to, quoting Rush and so-called republican talking points. Watch the skit and then think, if they were portraying a democrat, what the outcry would be. Al Sharpton with his bullhorn would be outside 30 Rock along with Jesse Jackson threatening NBC with a lawsuit for being racist. Of course, since it's a black republican they are portraying, nothing will be said, because Steele is probably not "black" enough or "down for the struggle" as they say. Tell me if you think this isn't a thinly veiled form of racism.

Notice the words, "arising from actual or imputed bad character or conduct". Now, when you think of someone like Bill Ayers who is friends with Obam-uh, and is a known murderer of 2 police officers, does that not impinge on Obam-uh's character? and what about Reverend Wright? A racist and solid black separatist whom the Messiah has sat and listened to in his "church" for over the last 20 years and "baptized" his children in along with marrying his wife? does that not also impinge on Obam-uh's character? And what about that fine ex-governor, Rod
Blagojevich? Someone is going to tell me that the junior senator from the state of Illinois had no real contact or conversations with Blago? hmm. Me thinks, something rotten smells in Denmark.

And what of the people he surrounds himself with? Emmanuel, Clinton, Napalitano (no finer man than he was the governor of our fair state I always say) and on and on? Someone who is willing to intrude on your life, in your pocketbook, to say, "help a brother out"? What about good ole Peggy the moocher? her statements that "Obam-uh is going to fill up my gas tank and pay my mortgage"? hmmm. At whose expense? yours? mine? and what of the great enterprise that is America? the hard work that has created and sustained this country through the sheer tenacity of men and women who work and toil everyday to be the best they can be? for what? for Comrade Obam-uh to take more away from them? to silence the voice of the opposition? it seems to me that the word "bi-partisan" is code for the commucrats saying, "just do it our way". And what of those "jihadists" that are being released from Gitmo? have they rights as native born American citizens do? Are we somehow "misunderstanding" their true intentions after their brethren killed over 3000 people on American soil one Tuesday morning for doing nothing more than going to work? hmmm.

Obam-uh is evil.

He doesn't have to have horns, or a pitch fork, or 2 tongues (but if you listen close, he speaks with 2) but what he is attempting to do is to harm this country by playing economic warfare, race warfare and social warfare, all to "help a brother out". He has become the symbol of what many people believe is the answer to their own problems, "if I can't take responsibility for myself, then the messiah will wash me clean with the waters from the federal government as he spreads the wealth around." It doesn't take a "rocket surgeon" (as Jeanine Ford, a former anchor at channel 12 once uttered) to understand what is going on.

Obama wants to remake the good ole USA into the image of...France! or Germany or even worse, a resurrected Soviet Union. Perhaps a lesson in political history is in order.

But still, Obam-uh's evil.

Yesterday, the Savior and Messiah Globama stated that he was not in favor of bringing back the Fairness Doctrine, a law rabidly supported by his fellow democrats in Congress and the Senate (with foaming at the mouth included) to put a muzzle on conservative public commentary over the airways, internet and television. It was dubbed the "Hush Rush Bill".

However despite Globama's statement yesterday, keep in mind his statement just last June, during his campaign, which states he would prefer to go about it "in a different way"...

(from Obama's press secretary, June 2008):

"Sen. Obama does not support reimposing the Fairness Doctrine on broadcasters. He considers this debate to be a distraction from the conversation we should be having about opening up the airwaves and modern communications to as many diverse viewpoints as possible. That is why Sen. Obama supports media-ownership caps, network neutrality, public broadcasting, as well as increasing minority ownership of broadcasting and print outlets."

I was waiting for Obama's rejection of the Fairness Doctrine to happen publicly, and yep sure enough it did - within only a month of his inauguration. Instead, his intention clearly is to not use the words "Fairness Doctrine" in hushing Rush. His endeavors will be in the regulation of free speech through the FCC, setting up watch committees, and not renewing FCC licenses to anyone disagreeing with or outright opposing his or the democrat party's policies and positions. (After all, if he used the term "fairness doctrine" he would have to include ABC, NBC, PBS and a entire slew of thrill-running-up-the-leg starry eyed journalists)

The Dow plummeted again today. What else can one expect when billions of dollars are going to Porkulus instead of Stimulus? -- When hundreds of thousands of irresponsible people are going to get their mortgages paid for them -- When a "party train" is going to be built from (the bankrupt state) California directly to the slot machines of Las Vegas (forget putting people to work drilling for oil off the pacific coast or fixing the roads and highways of California or helping the farmers and small business owners in that tax burdened democrat controlled state!).

Tonight on Bill O'Reilly (yes, REAL people listen to Bill O'Reilly), he had liberal Alan Colmes and another liberal on his show to debate the newest Globama policies of capitalism vs.socialism. One liberal kept repeating the Globama mantra "Only Government Can...." (I guess "Yes We Can" got left at the doorstep of the White House) ... and they were both saying "You don't understand (what Globama's trying to do!!)"

Then suddenly Alan Colmes comes out with the comment "The government only wants to COMPETE with the private sector."

WTF??!! How does government "compete" with its competitors when the government is collecting TAXES from the very people its competitors are trying to sell goods and services to?? I had hoped Alan had an answer to that but he kind of shut up very fast! Maybe he was scratching his head too?

I just got a call from my daughter Melissa who told me that my youngest daughter, Kayleigh, or the Spitfire as I call her, and her band, Sin!clair, WON the "Battle of the Bands" at the Gothic theater tonight in Denver, Colorado. They competed against 50 bands and won first place!

From what Missy tells me, they were awesome! I am hoping to get video and a good audio mix if I can, so that I can edit a video or 2 for them. I have to say a heartfelt congratulations to Kayleigh, Josh, Tony and Bryce and nice job! I am so proud of them. They are all great people!

So I am watching late night satellite TV. I think it was AMC and the movie was something I liked though I can't remember what it was. It might have been a Clint Eastwood Western or something when all of a sudden up pops this ad. Now about 2 weeks ago, I was dozing on the couch one late night with the TV on, and this ad came on and I wasn't sure what I saw, I thought maybe I was hearing things, I didn't catch but the last part of the video, so I wasn't sure what it was. With all the male enhancement ads out there, I thought maybe it was one of that genre. But last night I was wide awake and this pops up on TV and I sat there just staring at the TV. I couldn't believe my eyes. Who is the advertising wizard that came up with this stuff?

Viagra, Cialis, Extenze, Enzyte, and the "Progene" Chick! wow. And now "Clandestine personal vibrators"! sounds like a Special Ops weapon to me!

Now I am no prude, certainly not. I am old enough to know about sex and such, I do have 5 kids after all and I love women, and well, sex just as much as anyone else, even at my "advanced age". But do we really need such ads on TV late at night? It's bad enough that we are bombarded by the male enhancement ads, the worst being the "Viva Viagra" spots using the old Elvis tune. Or the Enzyte commercials with "Smilin' Bob" that are actually kind of funny even though the man who runs the business has been convicted of fraud but really, how many of these do we need on TV? Watch this spot and tell me what you think your kids are thinking when they have outfoxed you and stayed up late watching something on Cable or Satellite TV?

The Devinyls "I touch myself" fits nicely, doesn't it? But pardon me for a moment, the Angela Lansbury look-alike in the background adds somewhat of a creepy touch, pardon the pun, or not, doesn't she? Maybe she's the buzzkill so that the censors didn't nix the whole idea altogether. My apologies to her.

Now I suppose, the "in" thing for Christmas for your guy and girl friends is to buy them either male enhancement pills or get your girlfriend or gal friends the Trojan Vibrating Touch! Yep, it you can't get them a prescription for Viagra, at least you can get those men folk something that will supposedly make them feel bigger, longer and with enhanced performance! Now you too can give your lady friend a Trojan Vibrating Touch so she can take it to school, or work or to the movies when she goes so that anytime the need arises and passion flares, well, there ya go!

If I am not mistaken, I have also seen on satellite/cable TV, an ad for a penis suction pump. Now there's a real gift for your guy friends! I can hear the conversation now:

Steve: "Hey Bob"

Me: "Hey Steve"

Steve: "Since it's Christmas and I know you don't have time to date, I got you a couple of gifts!"

Me: "Really? that's nice"

Steve: "Yeah, I got you a penile suction pump and some male enhancement pills, that should fix you right up!"

Me: "Thanks, but I am not seeing anybody, why would I need them anyway?"

Steve: "Well, they're guaranteed to make you bigger, harder and give you better performance"

Me: "Gee thanks Steve, maybe I can use the male enhancement pills to get me a bigger paycheck and use the pump to clear that stopped up drain and get that crown out I lost down there, that's one stubborn sucker!"

Steve: "You're welcome Bob, you never know, you might run into that "Progene" chick, I hear she's pretty hot!"

And do you feel the need to do some exercise" at work? Try the "Pos-T-Vac"! Just excuse yourself from that all important business meeting and Wham! off to the men's room or locker room in the building and start "hoovering" that sucker. That way when you come back in, all the women in the office will look at you and each other and say "hmmm, do you notice something different about Tom? Did he get his hair cut? or is he wearing a new suit?
NO! he got himself one of those human milking machines and man, does it show! wonder what he's doing for lunch!" Jeez. And who is he thinking about? probably the "Progene" chick. Now, if I had a girlfriend that looked like the "Progene" chick, why would I need anything? I am not sure, but somehow taking a look at her, I don't think she is going to want to deal with some girly man who has to take a pill to get excited. "Hold on one minute baby while I take my extenze pill and finish using my Pos-T-Vac, and then I'll be ready". But that is my opinion. Personally? I do think she's cute anyway.

Is it me? or is anyone out there just getting fed up with the constant bombardment of breast enhancers, male or "penis" enhancers, extremely clandestine female vibrating finger toys and male milking machines? For the love of God, are men so feminized and brainwashed by the media and marketing companies that they are worried about the size of their Johnsons? are women so insecure anymore that their breasts are smaller in comparison to "Tiffany" or "Brittany" whose breast look like the twin "Graf Zeppelin" and "Hindenburg" docked in Lakehurst, New Jersey fighting under a tarp? It's said when the archeologist's dig up Snottsdale in a 1000 years, all they'll find is breast implants and dental veneers.

Ya know, people need to quit buying into this crap. If a man has a legitimate need for erectile dysfunction, fine. And most of the herbal supplements for male enhancements are bogus anyway, if anyone pays attention and does a little research. I mean the head of Enzyte is in big trouble and I haven't seen "smilin' Bob" on lately and I have to watch NBC Nightly News when I am switching with a one minute "Viva Viagra" spot right in the middle of the break. And the use of that song for that particular product makes me want to throw up anyway. And I don't know about y'all, but when I was jammin' with the band, we never sat around singin' and playin' about how after we got through we were going home and take a pill that would make our Johnson's hard enough to fly a flag from and make our military dad's proud.

And the constant stream of "male enhancements", "breast enlargers" and now "personal Vibrating touches" on top of "Penile suction machines" is just getting out of hand, no pun intended, well maybe.

Perhaps it's the sign of the times. I don't see anything wrong with sex at all, but there is a time and place for everything. And there is also a time and place for advertising everything. There is a "Shop Erotica" channel or infomercial on satellite and I would bet it's on cable too. The sad thing is, the FCC doesn't regulate much other than OTA (Over -The-Air for you civilians) so unless it's really really over the top, they won't do anything until gazillions of people complain. Alas, it's no wonder we are a sex-obsessed society with the geniuses of Park Avenue, if they can sell Madonna, Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell, they can sell anything.

All I am waiting for now is Trojan to start using my re-cut version (above) of the old "Divinyls" song, "I touch myself" which would probably go good for that particular product. Listen to it again, can't let a good song and theme go to waste now can we?

Think I'll buy a few for some friends for next Christmas...and while I am at it, think I'll send the "Progene" Chick one of those Trojan Vibrating touches and maybe a penis pump enlarger or a Pos-T-Vac in case she lost an earring in her bathroom sink.

America under Siege

Yep, that' right, America under siege. With the Porkulus Package as Rush calls it, the commucrats in the Politburo lead by Comrade Obam-uh are trying to undermine everything that made America the great country it is. Now with funding for infrastructure, giving "tax credits" to people who don't pay taxes to begin with and the move toward nationalized healthcare, we are seeing the commucrats trying to turn America into France, or Germany.

What people don't realize is, for example, the other day the story was reported that Starbucks ended up getting rid of their new jet they had purchased a few years ago and had taken delivery of. Of course, Starbucks wasn't a reciepient of any bailout from the US government, but oh my God, to hear those in the politburo screaming about how that was hurting employees, they could have kept employees and stores open, they could have kept jobs. Here's the thing. I don't agree with Starbucks buying the jet, but at the time, they were making a profit. They were helping to employ the people making the jet, (it might be a jet made in France, but still, it was employing people). Now, a jet needs a ground crew and maintanence people to keep it up to snuff, so they have to employ local people to do that. You don't just hop into a jet and fly to Starbucks or Circle K or 7-11 to get the morning paper like you would with your car. They have to make sure that the jet is in top condition each time it rotates.

My point is, if a company wants to make a boneheaded move, let it fail. It's America after all. It's capitalism and it's not the government's call to decide what a private company can do. I don't care what company it is, except if it involves public transportation such as the airlines or trains or buses. Companies should be allowed to fail without government interference if they do the wrong things and shouldn't expect the government to help them out. That goes for the auto industry, and they airline industry. The government should only be involved in the airline industry to the extent that they are protecting the public by making sure the airlines keep and fly reliable and safe aircraft. Not whether or not the owners are jetting around on their own aircraft to jaunts around the world. If GM or Chrysler or Ford can't make a decent American car because they pay so much in healthcare and pension costs, let them either restructure the way they do business, cut the unions down to size or go out of business. It is not the government's business to interfere in private business. Because when you start getting bailouts from the government to save your asses, you can damn well expect the government to start telling you how to do business and that amounts to socialism if in fact, not fascism. There is no guarantee in the US constitution that if you are a bad business, it's the government's job to save you. After all, if the US government was a a business itself, it would have gone out of business a long time ago. Thus lies the danger in Comrade Obam-uh and the Politburo's thinking. Encroachment on the one shining attribute of American exceptionalism. The willingness to risk and either succeed or fail on your own merits.

While I was in Colorado visiting my kids, I was also playing computer tech to fix my youngest daughters computer so that she and her band could record a demo cd. I also was instructing them on how to do this, instilling recording discipline and teaching Kayleigh how to use the program and mic the drums, the guitars, etc. I also went to a gig on the 17th that they played at a place called the Atlas. I recorded it on my little mino camcorder, and while the audio mix is not exactly board mix, the audio isn't that bad. The video also turned out better than I hoped. So I am loading up a song here called "my chemical bromance" which the Spitfire as I call her, told me was a play on the band, my chemical romance. She has complete command of the stage, and while a young band, if they stick at it, they have potential. I noticed the crowd that was there all gravitated toward the front of the stage after Sinclair started playing which is a good indication of how they grabbed their attention. Needless to say, I was extremely proud of her and proud of them as well.

Arizona Bound

Well, it was a fun week spending time with the kids and grandkids here in Colorado. The weather was unseasonbly warm, no, it wasn't due to climate change. I remember growing up here many winters where we wondered where the snow was. It was always snowing in the mountains, but the front range sometimes got lucky and didn't get much at all.It still got down into the low 20's and teens at night and the last 2 nights we got a dusting of snow, though nothing big. Right at 9am as I am typing it's 19 degrees outside. I still must have Colorado skin as when I step outside for a smoke, it's cold, but it doesn't bother me. They say the longer you live in Arizona the thinner your blood gets, but for me, guess not. I can still handle Colorado winters. When I arrive back in Phoenix it will be about 70 degrees, that's a change!

I remember those cold gray winter skies that Colorado is known for and haven't see in quite a while. And I didn't have the chance to go to the Springs or Denver.

I will be coming back in May for Kayleigh's High School Graduation and Colorado spring's and summer's are the best kept secret in the west. I do miss the Colorado summers. But it's back to Phoenix and back to work as we have the superbowl coming up and the AZ Cardinals are playing, which shocked everybody and we have the Digital Transition coming up, provided of course that the bozos in DC don't decide to move it back. As a friend of mine said the other day "Hell must have frozen over, since the Cardinals are in the Super bowl and we have a black man in the white house." I added, "and a socialist one at that". See you on the other side.

So we all received this email from corporate and management at the station: First from Craig Dubrow;

Today Gannett is implementing a furlough program across all U.S. divisions and at corporate headquarters. This means that most of our U.S. employees - including myself and all other top executives - will be furloughed for the equivalent of one week in the first quarter. This furlough will be unpaid. Unions also will be asked to participate.

We are doing this to preserve our operations and continue to deliver for our customers while confronting the issues raised by some of the most difficult economic conditions we have ever experienced.

After much consideration, we decided a furlough program would be the fairest and least intrusive way to meet these fiscal challenges in the first quarter, which is traditionally the lightest time of the year. We sincerely hope this minimizes the need for any layoffs going forward.

As the day goes on, you will be receiving information from your division presidents explaining the program, including some FAQs to help answer any of your questions and address your concerns about pay and benefits.

We have made some very difficult decisions this past year, all with the goal of keeping Gannett strong and preparing for the future. I understand I have asked a great deal of you, and I regret adding to your burden with this program.

But my sincere hope is that this step removes the need to do anything more drastic, and that business conditions improve. As always, I thank you for your patience and loyalty to Gannett.

So we are supposed to lose a week of pay with a week off. I wonder how this going to affect most employees with kids and mortgages? simple, badly.

Last Friday Bob Dickey, Gannett's newspaper division chief flew to Tucson, Ariz. to announce the likely closing of the Tucson Citizen, the state's oldest continuously published daily.

"We all will be sharing the financial hardship," Dickey told Gannett employees earlier in the week, after Gannett--parent company of the Tennessean--announced mandatory unpaid vacations for employees.

Dickey, it turns out, will be sharing the hardship by entering Bob Hope's Chrysler Classic golf tournament, with an entry fee as high as $25,000 for amateurs. He's really feelin' the worker's pain!

As one poster on the excellent Gannett Blog put it:

"I hope this is not coming out of the Gannett expense account. Not after I have had employees in my office crying about how they are going to lose $500 of their weekly wages because of the furlough and they will not be able to afford their rent and utility bills."

Maybe I will take off the week that we are supposed to go through the digital transition, say feb 15-22 and let management run the station whilst i enjoy a week off without pay.

THE OBAMA PRESIDENCY: HERE COMES SOCIALISM

2009-2010 will rank with 1913-14, 1933-36, 1964-65 and 1981-82 as years that will permanently change our government, politics and lives. Just as the stars were aligned for Wilson, Roosevelt, Johnson and Reagan, they are aligned for Obama. Simply put, we enter his administration as free-enterprise, market-dominated, laissez-faire America. We will shortly become like Germany, France, the United Kingdom, or Sweden — a socialist democracy in which the government dominates the economy, determines private-sector priorities and offers a vastly expanded range of services to many more people at much higher taxes.

Obama will accomplish his agenda of “reform” under the rubric of “recovery.” Using the electoral mandate bestowed on a Democratic Congress by restless voters and the economic power given his administration by terrified Americans, he will change our country fundamentally in the name of lifting the depression. His stimulus packages won’t do much to shorten the downturn — although they will make it less painful — but they will do a great deal to change our nation.

In implementing his agenda, Barack Obama will emulate the example of Franklin D. Roosevelt. (Not the liberal mythology of the New Deal, but the actuality of what it accomplished.) When FDR took office, he was enormously successful in averting a total collapse of the banking system and the economy. But his New Deal measures only succeeded in lowering the unemployment rate from 23 percent in 1933, when he took office, to 13 percent in the summer of 1937. It never went lower. And his policies of over-regulation generated such business uncertainty that they triggered a second-term recession. Unemployment in 1938 rose to 17 percent and, in 1940, on the verge of the war-driven recovery, stood at 15 percent. (These data and the real story of Hoover’s and Roosevelt’s missteps, uncolored by ideology, are available in The Forgotten Man by Amity Shlaes, copyright 2007.)

But in the name of a largely unsuccessful effort to end the Depression, Roosevelt passed crucial and permanent reforms that have dominated our lives ever since, including Social Security, the creation of the Securities and Exchange Commission, unionization under the Wagner Act, the federal minimum wage and a host of other fundamental changes.

Obama’s record will be similar, although less wise and more destructive. He will begin by passing every program for which liberals have lusted for decades, from alternative-energy sources to school renovations, infrastructure repairs and technology enhancements. These are all good programs, but they normally would be stretched out for years. But freed of any constraint on the deficit — indeed, empowered by a mandate to raise it as high as possible — Obama will do them all rather quickly.

But it is not his spending that will transform our political system, it is his tax and welfare policies. In the name of short-term stimulus, he will give every American family (who makes less than $200,000) a welfare check of $1,000 euphemistically called a refundable tax credit. And he will so sharply cut taxes on the middle class and the poor that the number of Americans who pay no federal income tax will rise from the current one-third of all households to more than half. In the process, he will create a permanent electoral majority that does not pay taxes, but counts on ever-expanding welfare checks from the government. The dependency on the dole, formerly limited in pre-Clinton days to 14 million women and children on Aid to Families with Dependent Children, will now grow to a clear majority of the American population.

Will he raise taxes? Why should he? With a congressional mandate to run the deficit up as high as need be, there is no reason to raise taxes now and risk aggravating the depression. Instead, Obama will follow the opposite of the Reagan strategy. Reagan cut taxes and increased the deficit so that liberals could not increase spending. Obama will raise spending and increase the deficit so that conservatives cannot cut taxes. And, when the economy is restored, he will raise taxes with impunity, since the only people who will have to pay them would be rich Republicans.

In the name of stabilizing the banking system, Obama will nationalize it. Using Troubled Asset Relief Program funds to write generous checks to needy financial institutions, his administration will demand preferred stock in exchange. Preferred stock gets dividends before common stockholders do. With the massive debt these companies will owe to the government, they will only be able to afford dividends for preferred stockholders — the government, not private investors. So who will buy common stock? And the government will demand that its bills be paid before any profits that might materialize are reinvested in the financial institution, so how will the value of the stocks ever grow? Devoid of private investors, these institutions will fall ever more under government control.

Obama will begin the process by limiting executive compensation. Then he will urge restructuring and lowering of home mortgages in danger of default (as the feds have already done with Citibank).

Then will come guidance on the loans to make and government instructions on the types of enterprises to favor. God grant that some Blagojevich type is not in charge of the program, using his power to line his pockets. The United States will find itself with an economic system comparable to that of Japan, where the all-powerful bureaucracy at MITI (Ministry of International Trade and Industry) manages the economy, often making mistakes like giving mainframe computers priority over the development of laptops.

But it is the healthcare system that will experience the most dramatic and traumatic of changes. The current debate between erecting a Medicare-like governmental single payer or channeling coverage through private insurance misses the essential point. Without a lot more doctors, nurses, clinics, equipment and hospital beds, health resources will be strained to the breaking point. The people and equipment that now serve 250 million Americans and largely neglect all but the emergency needs of the other 50 million will now have to serve everyone. And, as government imposes ever more Draconian price controls and income limits on doctors, the supply of practitioners and equipment will decline as the demand escalates. Price increases will be out of the question, so the government will impose healthcare rationing, denying the older and sicker among us the care they need and even barring them from paying for it themselves. (Rationing based on income and price will be seen as immoral.)

And Obama will move to change permanently the partisan balance in America. He will move quickly to legalize all those who have been in America for five years, albeit illegally, and to smooth their paths to citizenship and voting. He will weaken border controls in an attempt to hike the Latino vote as high as he can in order to make red states like Texas into blue states like California. By the time he is finished, Latinos and African-Americans will cast a combined 30 percent of the vote. If they go by top-heavy margins for the Democrats, as they did in 2008, it will assure Democratic domination (until they move up the economic ladder and become good Republicans).

And he will enact the check-off card system for determining labor union representation, repealing the secret ballot in union elections. The result will be to raise the proportion of the labor force in unions up to the high teens from the current level of about 12 percent.

Finally, he will use the expansive powers of the Federal Communications Commission to impose “local” control and ownership of radio stations and to impose the “fairness doctrine” on talk radio. The effect will be to drive talk radio to the Internet, fundamentally change its economics, and retard its growth for years hence.

But none of these changes will cure the depression. It will end when the private sector works through the high debt levels that triggered the collapse in the first place. And, then, the large stimulus package deficits will likely lead to rapid inflation, probably necessitating a second recession to cure it.

So Obama’s name will be mud by 2012 and probably by 2010 as well. And the Republican Party will make big gains and regain much of its lost power.

But it will be too late to reverse the socialism of much of the economy, the demographic change in the electorate, the rationing of healthcare by the government, the surge of unionization and the crippling of talk radio.

Even Canada won't let Comrade Obam-uh's terrorist buddy in

So on the day that Comrade Obam-uh receives the Order of Lenin, it's revealed that even Canada, that bastion of liberalism, won't let him talk in Canada. The funny thing is, St Mary's College in California wants him to speak. I think it would be a great idea to put pressure on the college to dissuade Ayers to be able to speak. This "man" and I use the word loosely, should be in jail for the murders he has committed among other things. This is really unbelievable and indicative of the lunacy that will transpire now that Comrade Obam-uh has received the Order of Lenin and become first party secretary of the United Socialist States of America.

Just when our nation is in the middle of a war against terrorism, why would a liberal arts California college invite Bill Ayers, leader of the notorious 1960s group Weather Underground, to speak?

It is hard to imagine why they would at this time to give a platform for this character who proudly boasts of his terrorist bombings of the United States in the 1970’s. We need your financial help to get the word out to as many people as possible so we can get the college to withdraw this invitation before it is too late:

CANADA REFUSES TO LET HIM SPEAK

Even the liberal government in Canada refused to let Bill Ayers into their county this week where he was scheduled to speak at the University of Toronto, according to The Star. Remember, it was Canada that took in all of our draft dodgers during the Viet Nam War. They were not picky about who to let in.

But even they were smart enough to say enough is enough with Bill Ayers, stopping Ayers at the airport and putting him back on the airplane to the United States. It’s about time somebody said “NO!” to Ayers, who takes credit for multiple acts of terrorism .

Being a friend and neighbor of Barack Obama, Ayers probably thought the sordid legacy of his past was behind him, but some of us will still willing to stand for what’s right, and against this domestic terrorist! What is most shocking is that colleges such as St. Mary’s in Moraga, Calif., would even INVITE a man such as Ayers to speak in the first place. Instead, they should have a speaker who would explain the threat our country faces from terrorists who do the same thing Ayers did.

"I don't know why I was turned back," Ayers said in an interview Monday morning with TheStar.com. "I got off the plane like everyone else and I was asked to come over to the other side. The border guards reviewed some stuff and said I wasn't going to be allowed into Canada. To me it seems quite bureaucratic and not at all interesting ... If it were me I would have let me in. I couldn't possibly be a threat to Canada."

How about this for a reason: the Weather Underground set off multiple bombs in the 1960s and ‘70s, including explosives that hit the Pentagon, the Capitol, the U.S. State Department, a New York City police headquarters, and government prison officers in San Francisco and Sacramento, among others. While planning to bomb and kill soldiers at Fort Dix, New Jersey, three of Ayers’ group were killed by their own bombs that malfunctioned.

An Historic but sad day in America...

As I sit here in my daughter's house in Greeley, Colorado, trying not to watch the circle jerk going on DC, I am struck by a few points. Since Greeley is well out of the footpath of Denver TV stations OTA and I am awaiting the directv guy to come and hook up directv for my daughter and her family since they have no real TV to watch, I have to resort to watching the Translator from KDVR Fox 31 out of Denver which is located in Fort Collins, to the west.

I glance now and then at the screen and see all the illumanaires and gas bags that are showing up, and that's the just the commucrats. I have seen President Bush, his wife, his father and mother a few other republicans, but for the most part I am trying to ignore it all.

It is a historic day in that in America we have now elected the first black president in our history. One good thing about Comrade B. Hussein Obama, is that he has single-handedly wiped out an industry in America by his election. No more should the race baiters like Jackson, Sharpton and Jeremiah Wright have any credibility when they claim rascism is still alive in America and that the black man has no chance of oppotunity. No more should people like P "Dickhead" Diddy Comes and other thug rappers that want to lay all their problems on white people be allowed to stand. Does that mean rascism is dead in America? no but it means that those losers have had their weapon of choice taken away from them. Rascism has existed since the beginning of man and always will, but enough with Rascist America already. I think our society has long moved past that part of our history and it will be interesting to see the relics that remain that want to keep rascism alive as an industry.

I am happy we have elected a black man, so these people will shut up or at least I hope they will. The problem is, he is the wrong kind of black man. If he was a stanch conservative that believed in freedom, liberty, the rule of law, self-reliability and the nations's right to defend itself against any threat, foreign or domestic, yeah, right on. What we have here is the child of the corrupt chicago political machine, a student of Saul Alinksy, friends with un-repentant terrorists and a rascist pastor that he never in the 20 years of attending his church never heard any inflamatory remarks. He also has ties with a convicted land dealer whose real role is to be discovered and finally, we have a corrupt governor that you know Comrade Obama has had to have talked with regularly.

My daughter just having switched the TV over to a "my little pony" movie for the children has thankfully taken that ridiculous spectacle going on DC off the TV. I was half expecting Comrade Obama to walk across the mall pool, or turn it into wine, or be nailed to a cross so that special effects people could roll out a tomb and out would come the messiah all to the joy and amazement of the crowd. Thank god, I won't have to see that. I will never refer to him as President as I don't vote for socialist and I think we are in for some rough going. Any mistake or blunder he makes, he certainly will not get the criticism or scrutiny that Bush got during his presidency. No, they will excuse him as being new to the job, learning or spinning it some way to make it someone else's fault other than him.

As far as that goes, while i wish him no physical harm, I want him to fail. I want to see the economy tank even worse, I want to see attempts at more restrictive freedoms in the name of "good", and god forbid, something tells me that we are going to get hit by another terrorist attack as he will be perceived as weak as well as his sympathies toward the arab world.

And in closing, all I can say is, "Fuck him", Fuck him and the horse he rode in on.

We are 2 days away from Comrade Obama receiving the Order of Lenin, the highest award a socialist can get. But before he's even received the award, his administration has been beset by scandal and intrigue. Does anyone remember anything like this happening when Dubya was going to be inagurated? Yet, Rahm is under fire from the Blago fiasco, Richardson had to withdraw his nomination and a few other incidents. And now we come to "slow Joe" Biden, Gaffe-machine extrodinaire. His son Beau is serving as attorney general in Delaware, while also serving duty in Iraq, which he is to be thanked and respected for.

Meanwhile Slow Joe's aide, Ted Kaufman is set to be sworn in as Slow Joe's replacement for his senate seat. I am sorry, but this guy, as is mentioned, is a placeholder for Beau Biden. Many times in politics in America, and especially on the democratic side of the aisle, it's like a bunch of inbreds. Papa had a seat, then it's handed off to son. Look what happened to the Kennedy's. Jack runs to become President, Bobby runs for a senate seat in New York and Teddy decides to run for congress from Taxachusetts. At this point, I am sure that Kaufman is to be the resident marionette taking orders from both Biden's until Beau can actually "run" for the seat in which case, he will handily beat out any newcomers, provided of course some dark horse doesn't come out and steal the silver spoon out of his mouth

DOVER, Del. (AP) — The man picked to fill Joe Biden's U.S. Senate seat doesn't want his new colleagues to write him off as an irrelevant placeholder, even though he only plans to be in office for two years.

"I would not have taken this thing at this point in my life if I didn't think there were things down there that I could accomplish," said 69-year-old Ted Kaufman, a Democrat who worked for years behind the scenes on Biden's staff.

Delaware Gov. Ruth Ann Minner tapped Kaufman to fill the seat that Vice President-elect Biden relinquished Thursday. He'll be sworn into office at 11 a.m. Friday, but has made it clear that he does not plan to serve in the Senate beyond 2010, when many political observers expect Biden's eldest son, Delaware attorney general Beau Biden, to run for his dad's old seat.

Kaufman is no stranger to the Senate, having served on Biden's staff from 1973 to 1994, including 19 years as chief of staff. But after years of working in relative anonymity, he is now stepping into the public arena.

Kaufman says if his colleagues do try to dismiss his views, he has an ace up his sleeve — a close personal relationship with the new vice president.

"That's a lot better than a poke in the eye with a stick," joked Kaufman, who has requested assignments to the judiciary and foreign relations committee, both of which were chaired by his former boss.

As Biden's aide, Kaufman spent significant time on foreign relations and budget issues. He also was a senior adviser in his presidential and Senate campaigns.

His goals as a freshman senator include continuing Biden's effort to restore federal funding to help cities hire more police, providing financial aid for college students, getting U.S. troops out of Iraq, and working on economic recovery efforts.

"It's hard to discriminate between their views," said Christopher Schroeder, a professor of law and public policy at Duke University who has worked with Kaufman both as an academic colleague and as chief counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee. "I think his stance on issues is going to be very similar to Senator Biden's."

Kaufman has known Biden since the early 1970s. When Biden ran for U.S. Senate in 1972, Biden's sister and campaign manager, Valerie, asked help from Kaufman, who has a mechanical engineering degree from Duke and a master's in business administration from the Wharton School.

After his upset victory over Republican incumbent Caleb Boggs, Biden asked Kaufman to help with the transition to the Senate. Kaufman took a one-year leave of absence from DuPont, then wound up staying with Biden for two decades.

"He comes to the job far better prepared than almost anybody I can imagine. ... Unlike the rest of us, he won't need a lot of on-the-job training," said Sen. Tom Carper, who is now Delaware's senior senator.

Kaufman said he and Biden have complemented each other well through the years. Kaufman calls himself and pragmatist, but that Biden taught him to appreciate intuition or what he calls the "human factor."

Biden, through his aides, declined repeated requests for an interview but said in a written response that Kaufman understands that service to Delaware comes first, and that getting things done requires crossing partisan and ideological lines.

"There is no one who knows more about the Senate, how it works and how to get things done than Ted Kaufman," Biden said. "I can say with absolute confidence that Delaware is in very good hands."

"Ted is a unique combination of integrity, compassion and grit," Biden added.

But unlike Biden — who traveled back home to Wilmington almost every night — Kaufman plans to have a residence in Washington. But that doesn't mean he will be a regular on the D.C. cocktail circuit, said Mark Gitenstein, former counsel to the Senate judiciary committee and a fellow Obama transition advisory board member.

"If he had a choice between reading a briefing book and really getting up to speed for the hearing the next day, or going to a cocktail party, he's going to read the briefing book," he said

They want to tell everyone how to live their lives without practicing what they preach to others. And liberals are a lot like children, except not as cute.

This is also socialism at it's core. What recourse does a parent have in matters of discipline, if a court decides that perhaps you are being "too hard" on the child? And what recourse of legal action does a parent have if a court decides that they know better than you how to raise your kids? And why should the court even be involved unless there was a law broken to begin with?

My father would have taken out his belt and beat me 6 ways to next Sunday. Was he cruel? no. My mother would do the same thing. It's a parent's responsibility to raise children, not the courts. It's a parent's prerogative to punish their children when their children don't behave.

This is also further proof of the feminization of western society, especially here in the US. We are supposed to "feel" and not "think". What will happen to society when "feelings"replace "principals"? Men and women have their roles in raising children, both distinct and important, but men are supposed to be able to discipline a child when required in order to teach said child the difference between right and wrong. If she were my child, she would be wearing a pillow on her ass for a week as she wouldn't be able to sit down without remembering why her butt hurt so much. I am not blaming the father, he seems to be the injured party in this. Men are supposed to be men and women are supposed to be women. I am sick to death of liberals and society that want to make women out of men and men out of women. Please, give me a break.

It's no wonder that there are so many "male enhancement" ads out there as it seems men anymore have no balls, or at least there are those in society that don't want them to.

Court overturns father's grounding of 12-year-old

OTTAWA (AFP) — A Canadian court has lifted a 12-year-old girl's grounding, overturning her father's punishment for disobeying his orders to stay off the Internet, his lawyer said Wednesday.

The girl had taken her father to Quebec Superior Court after he refused to allow her to go on a school trip for chatting on websites he tried to block, and then posting "inappropriate" pictures of herself online using a friend's computer.

The father's lawyer Kim Beaudoin said the disciplinary measures were for the girl's "own protection" and is appealing the ruling.

"She's a child," Beaudoin told AFP. "At her age, children test their limits and it's up to their parents to set boundaries."

"I started an appeal of the decision today to reestablish parental authority, and to ensure that this case doesn't set a precedent," she said. Otherwise, said Beaudoin, "parents are going to be walking on egg shells from now on."

"I think most children respect their parents and would never go so far as to take them to court, but it's clear that some would and we have to ask ourselves how far this will go."

According to court documents, the girl's Internet transgression was just the latest in a string of broken house rules. Even so, Justice Suzanne Tessier found her punishment too severe.

Beaudoin noted the girl used a court-appointed lawyer in her parents' 10-year custody dispute to launch her landmark case against dear old dad.

I grabbed this from EWTN (Eternal Word Television Network) which is the "Catholic Channel". My mother had suggested that I listen to the homily or sermon for all you protestants out there. The name of the priest is Father Tom Euteneur and he is talking about the power of prayer. He was explaining why it is important for people to pray. He's right. Prayer can achieve some remarkable things, even if it's a "no" answer, as it can guide us to do whatever God's will is for us. Now, there are many out there that say "Oh, God talks to you like George Bush?". That's not what that means. It means that you listen through prayer to do what is in your heart you know is right. Many times we over think what we should do, when all we have to do is be silent and still and listen to that inner voice to tell us what we should do. Some call it instinct, other's common sense. I believe in the power of prayer as I have seen it first hand.

I have the whole homily I recorded, but listen to what Father Euteneur says in this clip, tell me if it isn't chilling and perhaps prescient of what's to be expected once Comrade Obam-uh receives the Order of Lenin on the 20th. Many people say, "He's not even President yet, give him a chance!" or "You just don't want him to succeed, you want him to fail."

You're right. I want him to fail. I want him to be exposed for the snake oil salesman he is.

I often wonder how any person who calls themselves a "Christian" can honestly turn the other way knowing that people like Comrade Obam-uh and Princess Pelosi and Prince Harry Reid can let children die by either abortion or worse yet, partial birth abortion. All I have to do is look at my 5 kids and my grandkids and think "what if...". The joy my children and my grandkids have brought to the world is more than any stimulus package Obam-uh can offer. Yet he has voted 5 times to keep partial birth abortion. How does that so-called man call himself a Christian?

Yes, I want him to fail, because if he succeeds, he can do great damage to the country as we know it. The guy is a socialist at heart and it doesn't take my man, Albert Einstein to figure out what he wants to do. I hope he fails, because if he fails, it means that most common sense Americans have caught on the act. If he fails, it means our liberty and freedom will be preserved. I don't even know what the hell that means, these guys were on Conan Tuesday night and they have like 10 lead singers. What it reminded me of, was a bunch of high school buddies at a kegger deciding after getting hammered to all have a bit of a sing-a-long. I think I would've stuck with one lead singer with the other 3 doing whatever "backup" vocals they do. After all, it sounds weird having 10 guys singing the lyrics, 2 or 3 might be different, but 10? And the opening riff done by the guy with the black explorer is way out of tune. You can really hear it when he plays the D chord before the "break out". Ugh.

I've listened to this song probably 5 times now and it gets worse each time. I lament, is this what Rock has come to anymore? Hell, if it is, then I need to get busy working on a new CD, I could get on Conan at this rate. listen to this song and tell me if sounds good to you.

Vince is back with Slap chop. Famous with his "Shamwow" commercial, he now comes back with slap chop. I like this guy. He has moxy, I guess it's called. I also hate Billy Mays (He always come out yelling at you, I hate that, "Hi I'm Billy Mays). But at :57 secs in, he says, "you're going to love my nuts" and I have a feeling that SNL is going to pick this up and run a skit based on that line. Anyway, if there is a pitchman out there that has it, Vince does. If you really pay attention to the spot, in the context of "you're going to love my nuts", there are a lot of double entendre. At least, I heard a few.

You just like the guy, or at least I do. I can see this guy going on to becoming a multi-millionaire if he isn't already. Watch the video, it's really an effective commercial and there are very few of them out there.

Fresh off my triumph over Kwanzaa, I thought I'd mention a couple of other facts that some of us are forced to keep repeating because liberals refuse to learn.

Ravens can learn to snatch fishermen's untended lines to get fish. Worms learn not to eat harmful bacteria (as opposed to the tasty nutritious bacteria they normally feed on). Fruit fly larvae can learn to detect the scent of predators.

But liberals cannot learn that the Aug. 6, 2001, Presidential Daily Briefing titled "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in the U.S." had not a speck of what we call "useful information."

I described the Aug. 6 PDB in detail in my 2006 book "Godless: The Church of Liberalism." The memo read like a fifth-grader's book report that he left to the last minute and had to quickly cobble together with old information on Google. The only "warnings" of future actions by al-Qaida were completely wrong -- for example, suggesting that terrorists might be planning an attack "with explosives" or preparing to attack "federal buildings in New York."

But liberals cite the Aug. 6 PDB as if it were a clarion warning of the 9/11 attacks.

On Dec. 3 this year, MSNBC's Keith Olbermann angrily announced that the Aug. 6 PDB "could have included copies of the terrorist itineraries and the message from the future," but if the president didn't "act on it or perhaps did not even read it," it wouldn't make any difference.

In fact, if Bush had directed all members of the executive branch to drop everything and jump on the "warnings" in the Aug. 6 PDB, bomb-sniffing dogs would have been prowling the nation and police lookouts would have been stationed at federal buildings in New York City -- as planes smashed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

True, the title of the PDB was "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in the U.S." I have a memo on 10,000 waitresses in Los Angeles titled: "Aspiring Actresses Determined to Succeed in Hollywood."

But liberals endlessly repeat the same falsehoods like Stalinist party members, long after normal people have learned the truth and moved on.

Another Stalinesque classic is the left's claim that Sen. Saxby Chambliss ran an ad challenging Max Cleland's patriotism in the 2002 Senate campaign. I've seen the ad. You can see it, too: It's all over the Internet. It does not challenge Cleland's patriotism.

The ad begins by noting that America is facing "terrorists and extremist dictators" -- briefly showing pictures of them -- and goes on to say that although Cleland said he "supports Bush at every opportunity," in fact he had voted against "the president's vital Homeland security efforts 11 times."

Again, as I noted in "How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must)," Cleland voted against the establishment of a Homeland Security Department ... because it didn't allow for unionization of the work force:

It was a completely legitimate campaign ad -- urgent in fact -- having nothing to do with Cleland's patriotism, but rather addressing his voting record (and, I would add, his sanity).

And yet, on MSNBC'S "Countdown" the host and guests vented their spleens at the ad all over again this year, during Chambliss' runoff re-election.

On Nov. 7, Olbermann called it "one of the most shameful moments in the history of American politics." His equally screechy guest Craig Crawford exclaimed: "I was horrified by what Chambliss did to (Cleland) in that campaign!"

On the Dec. 1 "Countdown," Margaret Carlson said: "I don't think enough attention can ever be paid to the ads that were run against Max Cleland. I'm waiting to hear if Chambliss apologizes for that someday."

At least liberals no longer lyingly claim Cleland lost his limbs because of a Viet Cong grenade. So there is that small victory. Soon, perhaps they'll learn to stop eating harmful bacteria.

Someday, I could stop writing new columns altogether and could just repost columns and book excerpts I've already written disproving the same yarns liberals spin over and over again.

I am a Coloradan. I was born in Alabama but by nature of being a military brat, I left Alabama when I was 5 to move to Okinawa as my father was in the military. When we came back to the states, though I thought we would go back to Alabama, we ended up moving to Colorado. So I lived in Colorado most of my life and accepted that I am a Coloradan. Even though I live in Arizona, I still consider myself a Coloradan. I love Colorado and if circumstances present itself, I will probably go back. But there is one thing I don't miss about Colorado. My brother sent me this picture from Colorado Springs. As I sit here in Arizona where it's about 65 degrees and relatively sunny, I ain't missing that snow.

So I am watching (rather I am switching air at work really, I have no choice but to watch) "Last Call with Carson Daly" last night and who shows up other than Eddie Steeples. Now that name might not ring a bell, but he is best known as the Staples "rubber band man" and better known as "Crabman" on the show "Earl". I have to say that Earl is one of the few shows that NBC has that is really worth anything, seeing as how they program so much junk anymore, Remember the Rosie special? Anyway, I do like Earl even though it's cast are another group of limousine liberals. But at least, they don't take too many shots at the President (and I mean President Bush, not Comrade Obama).

(As a side note, why is it that liberals produce and program most shows on the networks? I think it is really another example of say, how conservative talk radio is popular, yet liberals never have any real success at it. I think it's the same way for TV. I bet if some talented conservative writers and producers created some decent shows, the ratings would be a helluva lot better than they are. But I digress.)

Anyway, as I am watching, Steeples talks about his wiki entry and how it says he's married, but he really isn't. I don't know why, but I decided to read his wiki entry and got to the bottom and read something that wasn't supposed to be there. I immediately saved the screen shot and thought I would post it. Click on the picture and look where I highlighted the text. It was gone later, you can go check. But whoever did this obviously feels the same way about Carson Daly that I do, he just sucks. He should have stayed at MTV as he is not very good at being a host.

I am not much of an animal person. I mean I like animals, but I am not real crazy about dogs, they tend to get in the way and seem "needy". But I do like cats. I have always heard the theory that people who are dog people like to dominate other people and have bigger egos than most whereas people who like cats, aren't usually concerned with dominating anything. I don't know if that's true, but I just like cats. I prefer not having to every 5 minutes, let the dog out or in, or the constant barking. My favorite cat I have ever had was Buddy, but at only 8 years old, he passed away. I have never had nor seen a cat like him. Even as far as a cat, he was really different.

Anyway, the cat that has my attention now is Shammy. And this is a picture of her on top of my 16 track reel-to-reel in my studio. She has taken to sleeping there when I am in the studio and I have therefore given her the pet name "Snoopy" since she reminds me of Snoopy on top of his dog house, LOL.

You can tell by the responses, that most of these people got their information (or lack thereof) from the non-job the MSM did. Funny how they seem to be able to know about Sarah Palin and the myths surrounding her, the clothes issue (she didn't buy them, the RNC did), the whole "I can see Russia from my house" (which isn't what she said, that was a creation of SNL) and other things.

Plainly spoken, these people are idiots. They have no clue who Reid-Pelosi or Barney Frank is, the don't know what Comrade Obama said about the coal industry and they didn't know about about the 57 states gaffe he made as well as they obviously don't understand the theory of free-market economics, instead, saying "redistribute the wealth? sure". This is probably a small sampling of the people who voted for Comrade Obama. If there was any argument to be made that voters prove they are literate, and cognizant of how the government works and who is currently in government, this is it. This has been circulating around the net and yes, it's true. This guy, Cory Miller, is representative of what a real American is like, not some liberal socialist. Below is an interview on FNC with Miller. This is but one of they guys that Comrade Obama wants to raise taxes on. Read this letter and you get a good sense of what a Real American, yes I said a Real American thinks of the pending socialism and the twisted mindset of liberal socialists and expected entitlement. We seem to have morphed into a country dominated by wussy oprahfied, people. No wonder male enhancement pills are being handed out like candy, there are very few real Americans that have any balls to fend for themselves and instead want to rely on government subsistence.

Mr. Obama,

Given the uproar about the simple question asked you by Joe the plumber, and the persecution that has been heaped on him because he dared to question you, I find myself motivated to say a few things to you myself. While Joe aspires to start a business someday, I already have started not one, but 4 businesses. But first, let me introduce myself. You can call me “Cory the well driller”. I am a 54-year-old high school graduate. I didn’t go to college like you, I was too ready to go “conquer the world” when I finished high school. 25 years ago at age 29, I started my own water well drilling business at a time when the economy here in East Texas was in a tailspin from the crash of the early 80’s oil boom. I didn’t get any help from the government, nor did I look for any. I borrowed what I could from my sister, my uncle, and even the pawnshop and managed to scrape together a homemade drill rig and a few tools to do my first job. My businesses did not start not a result of privilege. It is the result of my personal drive, personal ambition, self-discipline, self reliance, and a determination to treat my customers fairly. From the very start my business provided one other (than myself) East Texan a full time job. I couldn’t afford a backhoe the first few years (something every well drilling business had), so I and my helper had to dig the mud pits that are necessary for each and every job with hand shovels. I had to use my 10-year-old, ½-ton pickup truck for my water tank truck (normally a job for at least a 2 ton truck).

A year and a half after I started the business, I scraped together a 20% down payment to get a modest bank loan and bought a (28 year) old, worn out, slightly bigger drilling rig to allow me to drill the deeper water wells in my area. I spent the next few years drilling wells with the rig while simultaneously rebuilding it between jobs. Through these years I never knew from one month to the next if I would have any work or be able to pay the bills. I got behind on my income taxes one year, and spent the next two years paying that back (with penalty and interest) while keeping up with ongoing taxes. I got behind on my water well supply bill 2 different years (way behind the second time… $80,000.00), and spent over a year paying it back (each time) while continuing to pay for ongoing supplies C.O.D. Of course, the personal stress endured through these experiences and years is hard to measure. I do have a stent in my heart now to memorialize it all.

I spent the next 10 years developing the reputation for being the most competent and most honest water well driller in East Texas. 2 years along the way, I hired another full time employee for the drilling business so that we could provide full time water well pump service as well as the well drilling. Also, 3 years along the path, I bought a water well screen service machine from a friend, starting business # 2. 5 years later I made a business loan for $100,000.00 to build a new, higher production, computer controlled screen service machine. I had designed the machine myself, and it didn’t work out for 3 years so I had to make the loan payments without the benefit of any added income from the new machine. No government program was there to help me with the payments, or to help me sleep at night, as I lay awake wondering how I would solve my machine problems or pay my bills. Finally, after 3 years, I got the screen machine working properly, and that provided another full time job for an East Texan in the screen service business.

2 years after that, I made another business loan, this time for $250,000.00, to buy another used drilling rig and all the support equipment needed to run another, larger, drill rig. This provided another 2 full time jobs for East Texans. Again, I spent a couple of years not knowing if I had made a smart move, or a move that would bankrupt me. For the third time in 13 years, I had placed everything I owned on the line, risking everything, in order to build a business.
A couple of years into this, I came up with a bright idea for a new kind of mud pump, a fundamentally necessary pump used on water well drill rigs. I spent my entire life savings to date (just $30,000.00), building a prototype of the pump and took it to the national water well convention to show it off. Customers immediately started coming out of the woodworks to buy the pumps, but there was a problem. I had depleted my assets making the prototype, and nobody would make me a business loan to start production of the new pumps. With several deposits for pump orders in hand, and nowhere to go, I finally started applying for as many credit card as I could find and took cash withdrawals on these cards to the tune of over $150,000.00 (including modest loans from my dear sister and brother), to get this 3rd business going.

Yes, once again, I had everything hanging over the line in an effort to start another business. I had never manufactured anything, and I had to design and bring into production a complex hydraulic machine from an untested prototype to a reliable production model (in six months). How many nights I lay awake wondering if I had just made the paramount mistake of my life I cannot tell you, but there were plenty. I managed to get the pumps into production, which immediately created another 2 full time jobs in East Texas. Some of the models in the first year suffered from quality issues due to the poor workmanship of one of my key suppliers, so an employee and I (another East Texan employed) had to drive across the country to repair customers’ pumps, practically from coast to coast. I stood behind the product, and made payments to all the credit cards that had financed me (and my brother and sister). I spent the next 5 years improving and refining the product, building a reputation for the pump and the company, working to get the pump into drill rig manufacturers’ product lines, and paying back credit cards. During all this time I continued to manage a growing water well business that was now operating 3 drill rig crews, and 2 well service crews. Also, the screen service business continued to grow. No government programs were there to help me, Mr. Obama, but that’s ok, I didn’t expect any, nor did I want any. I was too busy fighting to make success happen to sit around waiting for the government to help me.

Now, we have been manufacturing the mud pumps for 7 years, my combined businesses employ 32 full time employees, and distribute $5,000,000.00 annually through the local economy. Now, just 4 months ago I borrowed $1,254,000.00, purchasing computer controlled machining equipment to start my 4th business, a production machine shop. The machine shop will serve the mud pump company so that we can better manufacture our pumps that are being shipped worldwide. Of course, the machine shop will also do work for outside companies as well. This has already produced 2 more full time jobs, and 2 more should develop out of it in the next few months. This should work out, but if it doesn’t it will be because you, and the other professional politicians like yourself, will have destroyed our country’s’ (and the world) economy with your meddling with mortgage loan programs through your liberal manipulation and intimidation of loaning institutions to make sure that unqualified borrowers could get mortgages. You see, at the very time when I couldn’t get a business loan to get my mud pumps into production, you were working with Acorn and the Community Reinvestment Act programs to make sure that unqualified borrowers could buy homes with no down payment, and even no credit or worse yet, bad credit. Even the infamous, liberal, Ninja loans (No Income, No Job or Assets). While these unqualified borrowers were enjoying unrealistically low interest rates, I was paying 22% to 24% interest on the credit cards that I had used to provide me the funds for the mud pump business that has created jobs for more East Texans. It’s funny, because after 25 years of turning almost every dime of extra money back into my businesses to grow them, it has been only in the last two years that I have finally made enough money to be able to put a little away for retirement, and now the value of that has dropped 40% because of the policies you and your ilk have perpetrated on our country.

You see, Mr. Obama, I’m the guy you intend to raise taxes on. I’m the guy who has spent 25 years toiling and sweating, fretting and fighting, stressing and risking, to build a business and get ahead. I’m the guy who has been on the very edge of bankruptcy more than a dozen times over the last 25 years, and all the while creating more and more jobs for East Texans who didn’t want to take a risk, and wouldn’t demand from themselves what I have demanded from myself. I’m the guy you characterize as “the Americans who can afford it the most” that you believe should be taxed more to provide income redistribution “to spread the wealth” to those who have never toiled, sweated, fretted, fought, stressed, or risked anything. You want to characterize me as someone who has enjoyed a life of privilege and who needs to pay a higher percentage of my income than those who have bought into your entitlement culture. I resent you, Mr. Obama, as I resent all who want to use class warfare as a tool to advance their political career. What’s worse, each year more Americans buy into your liberal entitlement culture, and turn to the government for their hope of a better life instead of themselves. Liberals are succeeding through more than 40 years of collaborative effort between the predominant liberal media, and liberal indoctrination programs in the public school systems across our land.

What is so terribly sad about this is this. America was made great by people who embraced the one-time American culture of self-reliance, self-motivation, self-determination, self-discipline, personal betterment, and hard work, risk taking. A culture built around the concept that success was in reach on every able bodied American who would strive for it. Each year that less Americans embrace that culture, we all descend together. We descend down the socialist path that has brought country after country ultimately to bitter and unremarkable states. If you and your liberal comrades in the media and school systems would spend half as much effort cultivating a culture of can-do across America as you do cultivating your entitlement culture, we could see Americans at large embracing the conviction that they can elevate themselves through personal betterment, personal achievement, and self reliance. You see, when people embrace such ideals, they act on them. When people act on such ideals, they succeed. All of America could find herself elevating instead of deteriorating. But that would eliminate the need for liberal politicians, wouldn’t it, Mr. Obama? The country would not need you if the country was convinced that problem solving was best left with individuals instead of the government. You and all your liberal comrades have got a vested interested in creating a dependent class in our country. It is the very business of liberals to create an ever-expanding dependence on government. What’s remarkable is that you, who have never produced a job in your life, are going to tax me to take more of my money and give it to people who wouldn’t need my money if they would get off their entitlement mentality asses and apply themselves at work, demand more from themselves, and quit looking to liberal politicians to raise their station in life.
You see, I know because I’ve had them work for me before. Hundreds of them over these 25 years. People who simply will not show up to work on time. People who just will not work 5 days in a week, much less, 6 days. People always looking for a way to put less effort out. People who actually tell me that they would do more if I just would first pay them more. People who take off work to sit in government offices to apply to get free government handouts (gee, I wonder how things would have turned out for them if they had spent that time earning money and pleasing their employer?). You see, all of this comes from your entitlement mentality culture.

Oh, I know you will say I am uncompassionate. Sorry, Mr. Obama, wrong again. You see, I’ve seen what the average percentage of your income has been given to charities over the years of 2000 to 2004 (ignoring the years you started running for office - can you pronounce “politically motivated”); you averaged of less than 1% annually. And your running mate, Joe Biden, averaged less than ¼% of his annual income in charitable contributions over the last 10 years. Like so many liberals, the two of you want to give to the needy, just as long as it is someone else’s money you are giving to them. I won’t say what I have given to charities over the last 25 years, but the percentage is several times more than you or Joe Biden (don’t you just hate goggle?). Tell me again how you feel my pain.

In short, Mr. Obama, your political philosophies represent everything that is wrong with our country. You represent the culture of government dependence instead of self-reliance; Entitlement mentality instead of personal achievement; Penalization of the successful to reward the unmotivated; Political correctness instead of open mindedness and open debate. If you are successful, you may preside over the final transformation of America from being the greatest and most self-reliant culture on earth, to just another country of whiners and wimps, who sit around looking to the government to solve their problems. Like all of western Europe. All countries on the decline. All countries that, because of liberal socialistic mentalities, have a little less to offer mankind every year.

Socialism comes to America

The election of Barack Obama as "President" is significant and historic in 2 ways. First off, being a black man and the first black man elected to the office is historic. I would only hope that those out there, usually black, would finally dispense with "this is a racist country". But I am more than willing to bet, if you disagree with his policies, you're a racist, if you call him a socialist (which he is), you're a racist, if you don't like him, you're a racist. I had some time ago, a co-worker where I work call me a "racist" because I told him I don't like hip-hop and think it doesn't take anything more than a beat and someone screaming some obscene nonsense to make. For that, I am a racist. I don't like country music all that much, so what does that mean? I believe that far from being a "uniter", what will happen is, that anyone who disagrees with him and his policies will fall under the umbrella of being a racist. Too bad, if that makes me a racist, so be it. Because I am not. I grew up with friends of mine while I was a military brat, whose parents were a black man and a white woman, and it never occurred to me to think about what color they were. I never really experienced racism until I started into public school and what a shock that was.

Contrary to what they claim, "we" meaning the US and not me, elected the first black man to president and are the first industrialized western country to do something like this. The second reason why, is for perhaps for the first time in America's history, we have elected a radical socialist to office. I have no problem with electing a black man to the office, certainly I admire quite a few, Michael Steele, JC Watts, Alan Keyes (often called a crazy uncle of the republican party) or even to an extent, Colin Powell. Hell, I would welcome Condi Rice as the first black woman as president, except that her own people displaying their racist tendencies, don't think she is "one of them". It's funny to see how now Colin Powell is "one of them" ever since he endorsed the Dalibam-uh. Before, he was an Uncle Tom.

I have never understood why black people vote democrat or as I now refer to them, the liberal socialists. After all, Martin Luther King was a republican, it was Eisenhower that really instituted segregating the military (even though Truman signed it into law), it was the republicans that fought to push through both de-segregation and the civil rights laws we have today, all the while Kennedy (who opposed the civil rights act while a senator) and the democrats fought tooth and nail to deny blacks equality in this country. Yet to hear someone like Marion Barry once state, "Lincoln was a republican? he couldn't have been a republican, he freed the slaves!" shows you how ignorant of history many, and not just blacks, are about history.

And it was President Lincoln that freed the slaves. The liberal socialist party (democrats) brought you Jim Crow, the KKK and violent opposition to allowing blacks the same rights as whites. And on top of that, the liberal socialists have distorted the history and really to be perfectly blunt, the so-called "black leaders" have done no justice for their people as they see the democratic party as a back channel way to reparations by basically giving their constituents welfare and free handouts in order to keep them placated. They say that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result, I would dare say, blacks that keep voting democrat expecting them to help are suffering from some sort of insanity. In essence what the democrats keep doing, is placing the blacks into positions of hand-outs and keeping them "down on the plantation".

I really hate to say it, but I think most blacks that don't know history other than their own lives, feel as if they are "entitled" somehow to free handouts. They have bought into this myth that by voting democrat, somehow their lives are going to be better. And they have swallowed this fallacy that the democrats have done more to improve their lives than republicans. Improved it how? by giving them welfare? by taking away through welfare, the responsibility of their men to be fathers? by promising a mule and 40 acres? Already we have seen an example of this in Florida with someone people are calling "Peggy the Moocher". This is what she had to say at a Dalibam-uh rally in Florida:

Who is Peggy the Moocher? She's Peggy Joseph, a voter in Sarasota, Fla., who exulted earlier this week at a Barack Obama rally that this was "the most memorable time of my life." Why? As she told a Florida reporter on a YouTube video that has been viewed by hundreds of thousands: "Because I never thought this day would ever happen. I won't have to worry about putting gas in my car. I won't have to worry about paying my mortgage. You know. If I help (Obama), he's gonna help me."

Like another famous liberal, Oprah Winfrey, the Lord Messiah, the Dalibam-uh is going to buy her a car, fill up her tank, pay her mortgage and buy her a new HDTV! This is the mindset of these liberals. Gimme, Gimme, Gimme... cos you owe it to me! I am waiting for Oprah Winfrey to invite Peggy on her show and hail her as a national hero!

And yet all the liberal socialists have done is promise handouts to minorities only to disappoint them in the end. And if you want to talk about racism, I heard a co-worker say at work that he was voting for Comrade Obama simply because he was black. If that is not racism, I don't know what is.

But back to as I will call him, Comrade Obama. I can not bring myself to call him "President". Knowing what I know after studying him. For 8 years, I have endured the name calling and downright malicious attacks on President Bush and yet now, I am expected to call Comrade Obama "President"? To me that's a bit like calling Hitler the Prime Minister if I was french during WWII when Hitler had a stranglehold on France. With his election and the troika of Obama-Reid-Pelosi, we are going to have a politburo as opposed to congress, with Comrade Obama as First Secretary. He wants to be my president too? then cut taxes, leave the Bush tax cuts alone, let the troops finish the job they were sent to do and put an end to abortion, partial birth abortion especially. What? he won't do that? then why should I call him President. For 8 years I have heard Bush called names, caricatured as a monkey, a buffon, Alfred E Newman and worst of all, Adolf Hitler, and yet they expect me to swoon over the Dalibam-uh? I don't think so.

So now, nothing can be done, other than to grit your teeth and hope that the republicans finally get off their asses and start acting like the party they should be. There needs to be strong opposition to Comrade Obama's policies. Otherwise, we start down the slippery slope toward a real socialist state. I have heard friends of mine saying that I should not be so critical toward Comrade Obama, as he is the elected president and that by taking the stance I have, I am acting like the kooky leftist that now run the liberal socialists and reducing myself to their level. That may be true, but I voted for a President of a representative republic, not a socialist state, and I am not going to change my principals for anyone. Comrade Obama is a very dangerous man, especially with the Reid-Pelosi partnership that has the potential to wreck this country beyond what it was envisioned to be by the founders. It's going to be a long seige, a very long seige.

Like many of the other republicans that have been dismayed by the endorsement of the Lord most merciful, the messiah, the Dalibam-uh (peace be upon him) by what we thought were conservatives or "good" republicans, I was a bit taken aback by Colin Powell's endorsement, even though I knew from what Bill Kristol said a few months back was going to happen. As a Conservative, I Must Say I Do Quite Like the Cut of this Obama Fellow's Jib

When my late father T. Coddington Van Voorhees VI founded the iconoclastic conservative journal National Topsider in 1948, he famously declared that "Now is the time for all good conservative helmsmen to hoist the mizzen, pour the cocktails, and steer this damned schooner hard starboard."

In the 60 years since he first uttered it after one-too-many Cosmopolitans at one of Pamela Harriman's notorious foreign policy black tie balls, father's pithy bon mot has served as a rallying cry for conservatives from Greenwich to Chevy Chase. Today, I say it's time for we conservatives to once again grab the rigging and set sail with the flotilla of the true conservative in this race: Barack Obama.

Trust me, I haven't taken this tack lightly. No Van Voorhees has supported an avowed socialist since great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandpapa Cragmont Van Voorhees lent Peter Minuet $24 and a sack of wampum to swing a subprime mortgage on Manhattan Island. Old dad himself often recounted how, as a lad, he would command the family chauffeur Carleton to drive the Duesenberg down to the Times Square Trans-Lux so he could hiss Roosevelt.

But I've taken a good measure of this Obama fellow, and I must say I like the cut of the man's jib.

How can I say this, you ask? One look at this Obama chap is all the answer you need. Suave, tanned, unflappable, Harvard connections; it's obvious that here is a man to the conservative manor born. One imagines him at the helm of the Ship of State, basked in the sunlight diffusing through the seaspray over the bow, like some beautiful rugged Othello from a rapturous Ralph Lauren catalog, calmly issuing instructions to the deck crew in that magnificent mellifluous baritone of his.

It's that easy-going, almost effortless grace that has all the A-list conservatives like David Frum and Kathleen Parker whispering Reaganesque in hushed tones. Even Peggy Noonan -- the Grand Dame of Gipperism -- has succumbed to Obama's undeniable conservative charms.

Just last month I listened to her wax poetic about the Adonis of Chicago between chukkers at the Newport Club polo tournament final. "Why Peggy, you old dowager," I quipped, "I believe you just had an orgasm."

Certainly, my endorsement has raised more than a few eyebrows around the National Topsideris hooey, over-the-top rhetorical flourishes obviously designed by Mr. Obama to win over benighted inner city hoi polloi (a feat, I might add, that even the Great Communicator himself was unable to accomplish).

As for his so-called radical ties, who among us hasn't sent dinner party invitations to Gore Vidal and a leftwing terrorist or two to enliven the postprandial conversation? Leonard Bernstein loved hosting all manner of Weathermen and Black Panthers and Symbionese Liberation Army celebrities at his Park Avenue pied a terre, but it didn't mean the Maestro wasn't in favor of low taxes.

On the contrary; I know for a fact he itemized every cent of the catering bills for his famous terrorist cocktail parties. water cooler, particularly among the alumni of jejune cow colleges like Michigan or Dartmouth. They sometimes point to Mr. Obama's radical Rolodex and his hooey about "wealth redistribution" and "dictatorship of the proletariat." But, as I patiently explain, this is precisely the point - it

Just so, I have every confidence that Obama's true conservative butterfly will emerge once in office, coaxed from its Maoist cocoon by conservatives like myself and Frum and Parker and Noonan -- all of whom I am pleased to report are already under consideration for the Obama Administration State Dinner shortlist. Certainly there may be a tax increase or two, but isn't that what estate attorneys and Cayman Island banks are for? Under a worst case scenario some of us may have to set up a lease-back depreciation arrangement on one or two of our vacation compounds, as Dad was forced to in the dark years of Carter.

But I'm not worried. I've got a pretty good sense for character, and I'd be willing to bet my Weejuns that inside this Obama fellow lives the soul a rock-ribbed old money Brahmin. Ask yourself: could a seriously committed Marxist carry off a Brooks Brothers suit like that? I mean, other than Dad's old commie nemesis and Harvard fencing club foe Alger Hiss.

But there is an even more compelling reason to support Barack Obama: Sarah Palin.

If you are a conservative like me, you guffawed when you heard John McCain announced this declasse rube as a running mate, followed by good-natured applause, thinking it was some sort of whimsical campus prank he was reenacting from his Annapolis years. This was, of course, quickly followed the shock of realizing that he wasn't joking, and all that Hanoi unpleasantness had finally driven him around the bend.

It's an inescapable conclusion that this woman has, in 6 short weeks, single-handedly destroyed the Republican party. Certainly George Bush may share some of the blame; but we conservatives must remember how our hopes were buoyed by his impressive bloodlines and Yale degree before we realized his excursion to Texas had caused him to "go native." But la Palin offers true conservatives no such extenuating graces. I mean, my God, this woman is simply awful; the elided vowels, the beauty pageantry, the guns, the crude non-Episcopal protestantism, the embarrassing porchload of children with horrifying hillbilly names, the white after Labor Day. As fellow conservative commentator Andrew Sullivan quipped to me the other day outside a Martha's Vineyard antique shop, it's gratifying to know the Gipper isn't alive to see what has become of his party.

But it's not just American conservatives who are appalled. Just last week conservative New York Times columnist David Brooks and I were enjoying an apres-badminton apertif at the family weekend house in Montauk with my good friend Viscount Klaus-Maria Von Wallensheim, the conservative EU Agricultural Pricing Minister with whom I shared an Alpine chalet and manservant during our years as classmates at a Swiss boarding school. "Kloonkie" (my old school appellation for the Viscount) reported the growing dismay of the Continental Right over Palin's embarrassing enthusiasm for childbirth and Israel.

"Coddsie, old chap," he warned, "You know I've always been America's biggest defender in Monaco. But if you elect this ill-bred charwoman, I will be forced to move anchor to St. Tropez out of pure shame."

David and I were left nodding silently, for how else could we respond? If Palin has lost Kloonkie, she has surely lost the entire conservative movement. The idea of this dreadful woman in Washington is almost too much to contemplate. Not only would it be a fashion disaster, one can scarcely imagine the White House social calendar -- mooseburger fetes to that ghastly Joe the Plumber, perhaps followed by snow machine derbies through the Rose Garden?

For now, we conservatives must do what we can to sabotage the ill-fated McCain-Palin fiasco and hope for the best. Once the election is over we can lick our wounds, read the entrails, and decide where the movement should go from here. In anticipation, the Topsider will be holding a top-level exclusive strategy conference in Nassau next January, featuring tout le monde of conservative intellectuals from the Back Bay Review, The Prospective Standard, National Bowtie, and The Swarthmorean. If you are attending, please be advised that gentlemen's jackets will be mandatory after six PM.

Until then, do not despair; the election of Mr. Obama means that at least some conservatives will still have a place at the table. I do hope I get seated next to this William Ayers fellow -- I've heard he has some amazingly droll anecdotes!
